I don't care what department they work under. I just think it should be one step.. It does create job security especially since they work as fast or as slow as they want... the fees they collect from us are used for salaries. They don't pull from the government... I guess that gives them a free pass for not following proceedures.

NVC is mostly staffed by contractors, it's not even like they need government agents with security clearance etc. doing the work:

"Only two Foreign Service officers, the director and deputy director, work at the center, along with just five Civil Service employees. They work with almost 500 contract employees doing preprocessing of visas."

It's probably a lot less expensive for the government to have a second agency full of non-pensioned employees to do the grunt work  Definitely wish they'd figure out how to streamline the process and cut the BS.

I agree 1000000000000000000000000% with your statements. If you want to learn the most inefficient way to complete a process, look to the 'Murican government lol

My husband and I met in a Facebook group for Simple Minds' fans about 2 years ago. We started chatting in there, then came the friend request, then came more chatting. Pretty soon we were chatting non-stop and calling each other. He sent me one of his football shirts (English men and their football are sacred lol) and I knew there were sparks between us! Simple Minds announced a UK tour and I made plans to travel to meet him (at this point we started a relationship). We met and immediately we knew we were meant to be! At the second Simple Minds concert we went to, he proposed - 6 months to the date we became a couple. He flew to the US in August and we eloped! I-130 sent the day before he went back to the UK.

Had we known he could have adjusted status and stayed, I wouldn't be here right now.... that's a gripe for another day lol

Yes, My husband was here and overstayed... If my stupid divorce didn't take 2 years, I could have married him here and adjusted. But his dad was sick and was about to go into surgery. He had to go home. Stupid reality was that my divorce was final 2 weeks after he left.. And its been 2 1/2 years since he went back. I have been to Costa Rica like 4 times a year since then. Its time for him to come back and be with me !!

Good for you for taking matters into your own hands instead of waiting for your lawyer. You've really been put through the ringer :/ Are you facing more delays with the waiver or does that process move a bit smoother?

My husband and I met in a Facebook group for Simple Minds' fans about 2 years ago.

I can just imagine him trying to explain that to a disbelieving CBP officer the first time he flew to be with you

The first time I flew to visit my now wife, I was asked why I was visiting and I said to see a friend (we were just friends at that point) and was asked where I met the friend and where I was staying. The CBP lady was pretty incredulous "You're staying with someone you met on the internet?! Wow!" She let me in though and the rest is history :)

We were terrified he was going to get denied entry and have his bags searched as he had our champagne flutes in his carry-on bag with our wedding date etched on them LOL

They asked who he was visiting and he said "family". He was good to go. Chicago POE has been very friendly with me ole pot & pan (a lil cockney rhyming slang for everyone LOL)!

(BIG SIGH) the waiver is averaging 6-8 months processing at the NSC. I waited 11 months for the USCIS to get off their a$$es and approve our petition . I am in a huge hurry because I really want him home by December but that dream is fading fast... If I get a June interview I will call and beg for a May interview. I don't even care if it is the last week of May. If the NVC won't accept the original birth cert then all is lost for June.

This is random, but I was wondering where everyone met their spouses? We have a huge variety of countries on this thread. I am wondering how everyone got together.. my husband was here on a tourist visa and was living with a mutual friend. I got laid off one spring and had some time on my hands so I went to hang out with my friend and there he was. We were friends for a year before we moved to BF/GF status. I met him only 4 months after he arrived in the US. He didn't speak a word of english. I used to bring him books so he could try to study english. I took him to NYC, Atlantic City, the Jersey shore for motorcross on the beach, the philadelphia Zoo, Amusement parks and countless trips to the mall. HA HA Museums and restaurants.. I could go on...

I decided to study abroad at the University of the Americas in Puebla. I went to a party and he asked me to dance. He had just graduated from college and was back in town for the party. We became bf/gf 2 months later and a year and a half later he proposed. Almost a year and a half married and 1 baby later, here we are. :)
