Hi guys, need your help!

We are in the process of submitting our AOS and my lawyer wants me to write a letter stating reason of my unemployment. I have no idea how to begin and whom should be the letter made out to be….. etc

Did anybody else had do this?

Is there is some kind of template or sample that I can follow? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would just simple start it with "To whom it may concern: " and just explain the reasons your unemployed. It's pretty straight forward, don't stress over it just right down your circumstances. Good luck to you and yours.

This is my first time calling NVC and it keeps giving me a busy signal. Is this normal? Do I just have to keep calling until it finally rings? I called (603) 334-0700

Yes, and once it rings, realize you'll also be on hold likely for 15-45 minutes...

You know, I put a yes there, as I'm in the medical field, and have not pursued licensing in the US as of yet, since the process varies from state to state, and we are considering a move once I arrive. I just thought it was important for them to note that, as the question stated, ' a health care worker... who has not yet received US credentials'. I explained in text that it would be pursued once we knew where we would reside.

So apparently my reasons do NOT qualify for an expedite. I guess i will just have to wait and hope for the best.

Oh another note. It's been pretty quiet on here today, NVC still think it's the weekend LOL

This is probably a really dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure: my wife is filling out the DS-260 right now and we're at the section on children. We just had a daughter here in Poland and are going to get her CRBA this week. The question: "Is this child immigrating to the U.S. with you?" on the DS-260 is only referring to children that aren't U.S. Citizens, right? I know dumb, but had to ask. Thanks.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO such thing as a dumb question with this process it's better to be safe than sorry. I think it's a good question. I can help many others in your same situation. (F)

So I have a quick update.

When I called on the 21st of April, I was told I was still in processing. When I called on the 23rd of April, the operator told me my case was complete as of the 15th of April. That's weird, but whatever I thought.

So I hadn't received any confirmation e-mail by the 29th of April so I called the NVC. The operator told me this time that he didn't have any information in the system about a case complete on the 15th, but that he did see I received case complete of the 24th. He said it was still odd that I hadn't received any e-mail confirmation and that he would put in an inquiry to a supervisor to look into it and to send me that mail out.

Well, the next e-mail I got was to send my wife her interview date on the 10th of June.

So, 15th or 24th of April doesn't really matter to me. Just happy to get an early June date.

Good luck to everybody at the NVC and keep calling to keep them on their toes!

Well, she's a registered midwife in Europe and at some point in the future (we don't know when) would like to become certified in the US and work there possibly, but everything's up in the air right now as it's a different system and she might be a stay at home mom for the rest of her life etc. Do we answer Yes and tell them that, or do we answer No because her purpose of immigration is not work, but to live with me?

I really thought the DS-260 would be easier than this. Ugh. Sorry for the twenty questions. I keep going back to you because you seem so knowledgeable.

You should probably put yes, because yes she does work in the healthcare field. She might not go into when she gets here but it's better to be honest. I wouldn't risk putting no and having a problem in the future if she decides she wants to pursue a career. You can just explain the situation in the text box anyways.

Thank you! I finally got ahold of them. WOW I thought I could do it on my 10 minute break at work! hahaha sike!

But now I know that they received our case 4/23. I was really hoping to be done with NVC by the beginning of June, but its looking more like the end of June. If we submit everything in correctly.

My second checklist response got to NVC today (sent in another marriage certificate [certified] and proof of employment, even though I work abroad they want that now). I called to request a supervisor review on the case (again) because they say my marriage cert wasn't certified when it IS. But the lady, Joy I think, told me I couldn't request one if mail is pending. I need to wait for them to review that and then if they checklist me for a third time I can then ask for a supervisor review.

I know... right??? I think the reviewer was new or something.... Not all birth certificates look pretty like they do here in the US. The legal sized paper probably threw them off.... but still.... I have to suffer through all this mess. and its obvious they didn't read the instructions on the country they were processing... I can just see that person goign through my papers... " oops no police certificate... CHECK !!! I don't see a birth cert......CHECK !!!!!! #######???

What irritates me more than anything is the fact that my lawyer doesn't know what income amount to use on the AOS. I literally argued with him but he sent his version anyway. If Immigration is your specialty, shouldn't you know the basics?? Just sayin'

My nephew is a lawyer and he said the Immigration system is such a total mess that most immigration lawyers make mistake and they think they know more than anyone else. He was asked as a favor to take a refugee case and he said it was horrible trying to find information of any kind. When he went to court they weren't even on the docket, he showed the judge the letter and he said sorry see you in 6 months. Total mess, instead of giving amnesty they need to fix this mess and help us out of this disaster. Thank God for VJ and those wonderful members who help each other out.

That's incorrect because I put 2 supervisor reviews in last Thursday and I had pending mail since the 18th. If you talked to Joy, that explains it all. Lucybelle, please call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. I did last Thursday !! Some operators don't want to help at all, especially our girl Joy
