I doubt it matters too much who writes the cover letter and signs it, as it's more of an optional/ organizational device. You could maybe put 'beneficiary's contact info' as well as 'petitioner's contact info' and sign it below your information.

Thank you!

The contact information is provided VIA the DS-261-- a cover page that you customize can be used to give any explanations that you feel may be necessary-- all the documents are about the beneficiary-- and their relationsip to you-

providing contact information there would not be necessary-they would already have that on file from your choice of agent (ds261)

That's true!! Thanks

Spoke to a nice lady after waiting 34 minutes on hold and told me that i'll need to send the birth certificate ,i told her i did send the one that that they are asking for ( in a nice way) she told me that its a automatic checklist and they haven't reviewed may 7 documents yet ..

Hopefully shes right and i wont waste time thinking everything its good

I had the same situation like you 2 days before they asked my birth certificate.... I called and they said my IV had not been reviewed and today my case is complete.

I have two questions that I could use some help with (trying to avoid a checklist)...my wife was born in a very small town in Colombia, so keep this in mind.

1. Her parents do not have the original birth certificate. We have an original "re-issue" (for lack of a better term) which was notarized and signed by the official notary of the town who pulled this from the handwritten books. Is this document sufficient for the NVC/DoS?

2. We were married in the Catholic church. I have original documents from the Vicar and the Priest. The Priest is getting the Bishop to write an original document as well. I am being told by my Lawyer that I need a "civil" copy of the marriage when it was registered locally at the towns notary. The Priest says our documents are the official copies, that the church does not register the marriage with the government. A civil marriage in Colombia is when the town notary marries you. What I have read on the web, there should be a religious document as well as a civil document. Not sure what to say?

I will be in Colombia for two weeks in June and need to make sure that I wrap these two items up. Anybody have any real knowledge or experience with the above?

Thanks in advance...

I received a very encrypted text message from my husband. All it said was, "Email?" And I'm like "Pinterest?" Then my two brain cells decide it's a good idea to check my email... And there it was! Interview scheduled today (May 29, about 1-2 hours ago) for July 18!!!

We're FaceTiming just now crying, yelling!!! So happy!!!

Side note- It's weird, I've been collecting/organizing docs for a long time... But now that's real, I feel so unprepared! Good thing there's still a month and a half!

Oh, my goodness, I'm so happy :)

Side note again- This date is awesome: outside of the dreaded World Cup and in time to enjoy a family vacation early in July! (A special one because my brother has been going through cancer treatment - started around the beginning of our NVC process - and will have a break for that! And now I can join!!!!)

While I was on hold I exercised on the elliptical for 15 minutes. My son started to mow the lawn so I had to get off the elliptical so I washed the dishes, made coffee for tomorrow and wiped the counters. Finally they picked up. Nothing yet but I asked if they are working overtime to take care of the backlog. She said " Oh Yeah" then I asked what day they were processing and she said May 1st ( but we all know that is BS) She also said they were kicking them out today . She put me on hold for a minute and I have no idea why... but came back and asked if there was anything else I needed....

SO, there is hope for the weekend. YAY!!!

Hahaha! Your reply to your hubby was funny. I'm addicted to Pinterest. As in, my life wouldn't be the same without it. #addictedandproud

Congratulations on the interview date! 2 questions, how soon after CC did they give you the date and did you get the email right away?

I'm on my phone so I don't know if you have a signature. Sorry.

Ugh.... I want to call because I have hope that maybe today is the day I get CC. But first I don't want them to think I've become a crazy looney who calls every day (I was doing so well with hardly calling until they checklisted me) and second don't think I can hear another, "... 30 days..."

anyone having issue for IV fee not showing up. I paid my AOS fee two weeks ago and still there is no fee avaiable.

Tell me about it! I have to give up saying I've been waiting since May 9... Even though I have. Their system says I only completed ds261 May 21, (which is due to their stupid new interface). Just got off the phone with a supremely unhelpful agent, who told me there was no recourse, no way to track my original submission (why did they even give me a confirmation number, then, if I can't track it?) and I'd have to wait 20 days from May 21 to expect the IV bill to be invoiced.

Well, 9 days down, 11 to go...........

I'm pretty sure it's only previous employment for the last 10 years and old addresses since the beneficiary was 16 years old. :)

Only...! Honey, that was 16 distinct addresses for me, over 26 years... I don't think I'm in the categories that have to fill out work history, but if I am, 10 years = 9 "day jobs" that have overlapped with my performing/music teaching self employment in 3 cities.

I did use the exemplar to make a cheat sheet so that when I actually fill it in, it will go quickly. But if it's been (ahem) a little while since your 16th birthday, that form makes you do a lot of detective work!

Is your timeline updated?

Timeline

Haha When I said only, I meant only as in not every single employer that the beneficiary has ever had, but just the past 10 years.
