Turns out their checklist was for leaving something blank and not matching incomes like I thought, WHEW. Sucks that anyone gets a checklist, though!

What is the best time of year to visit? I'd still love to visit some day! And thanks for the beautiful quote. That made me smile today. :)

Am happy that it brought a smile to your face. The more smiles the better in this process and hopefully they're contagious!:content::):D:lol::yes:B-):jest::P:goofy::energy:

for visiting, it depends on what your criteria for "best time" are... tourist season is from December to February because this is when it's the coolest in weather and the rainy/hurricane season has just ended, so weather wise it's the best. The down side is that they sky rocket all prices (airfare, hotels, etc.) during that time. April to May time is really hot, but the prices are usually a lot cheaper and it's just before hurricane season, so no worry there! Plus lots of fruits are just coming into season.

I hope you get to enjoy the island one day and that I'm long gone by that time! haha

I forgot to state that i got both checklists. A fake checklist for the IV and a real one for the AOS on the same letter. The IV package was not yet reviewed and the AOS checklist was generated. The NVC representative told me as they have not yet opened the IV package, the checklist for IV must be false and generated as your AOS package has been reviewed. But as i stated my IV checklist was very basic and asked for the whole package.

Don't worry, they just didn't get to it yet. Send in what they want for the AOS ( if they asked for something )so you don't waste time and then wait for them to review the IV package. AOS and IV packages are reviewed by different departments.

From what others have told me as long as it's the petitioner it's ok it's the beneficiary that can't do these things. :) Good luck to you. (F)(L)(F)

As soon as I moved to the US, I applied for financial aid through FAFSA and had no issues (besides still paying the students loans off  ).

I have a question.. off topic but still a question :ot:

Can a green card holder retire and collect social security? and of so, is it at the same rate as a USC? I am only asking because parents of a friend of mine have been green card holders for 30 years. Its time to retire. They were looking in to Social Security. If you can collect SS as a permanent resident, then what is the point of becoming a USC if you get the same benefits?

I saved this link years ago for pros and cons of getting US citizenship: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Pros_and_Cons_to_Getting_US_Citizenship Looking at the fourth point (as an advantage to becoming a USC):

Government benefits
Some US permanent residents are restricted from access to public benefits, especially from receiving them whilst abroad. This is a continuing and deepening trend. This can include access to Social Security benefits
So, social security might not be available to green card holders. You (or them) would have to look into it more as this just says it can include access to it, not that it definitively does.

This morning I was talking with my partner about my anger and disgust with this process. I'm the USC, and I have done ALL the prep and have handled the whole process. I'm now in Australia - I had booked my ticket to arrive mid-May assuming we would have a June interview. At least we are together at this time.

Anyway, she doesn't like it when I get so frustrated and angry - my aura must turn flaming red or something. She asked me if all the time I spend on VJ just riles me up more.

I told her that VJ is what has kept me sane. That having people with stupid checklists - like LoveMyTico - helps me understand that we are not being singled out. I said how much we help each other out - that those of us who have made it through help those who are still behind.

I chose not to call NVC on Friday night, US time. I knew that if nothing had happened on my case, I was going to be livid all weekend - it will be WEDNESDAY here in Australia before I might get any progress (because of the Monday US holiday). My checklist response wasn't scanned in until May 9th - and it is obvious that they are not reviewing checklist responses before about 13-15 working days.

So I think next week will be our week for case complete. We are so screwed as far as a June interview at this point. I just hope we get a July one! We had return tickets for July 7th - luckily we can change these easily.

Thank you, VJ friends. I really could not do it without you.

And congrats to those who have actually gotten supervisor reviews. I asked specifically for a supervisor review since my checklist is an NVC mistake - not mine. I was denied twice.

Sukie

I really hope you get a CC next week and a July interview.

Before you change your plane tickets once you get a July interview, you can always try with the US consulate and see if they can move your appointment to June sometime. They have cancelations from time to time. You never know. I will try my best to change my wife's appointment in Casablanca once an inteerview date is set and once they receive the file.

Good luck

You should be getting an interview this coming week or next week at the latest. I hope I get my CC and they schedule me ASAP. I'm tired of this Horse and Pony Show.

I am also waiting to see Lucybelle get her CC too. That poor girl has been through too much.

Some operators don't like to give the IIN number.. so I bet if you call back and talk to another operator, they'll give it to you. I don't understand why they care about giving it out because you can't do anything until they release the forms on their end. I think they like the control..

Good Luck

Exactly!! Was wondering too. I'll call them on tuesday again Since they won't on monday.

Since you just received instructions to do it, I suggest you go ahead and resubmit it! it is only a matter of one day or two, you don't want it to drag longer than that!

Also, there is no credible information as far as that causing delays, so far we only have conflicting opinions!

My 2 cents: go ahead and resubmit!!!!!!!!
