Quick question - for the IV package (trying to prepare) the wiki says to send a photocopy of the beneficiary's bio-data page in their passport. Do I (the petitioner) have to send mine as well? I had my name changed after getting married, so my passport and social security cards don't even match anymore. My passport is the only thing I have with my maiden name on it.

If I do need to send mine as well, will the fact that it has my maiden name on it, while nothing else does, matter? Thanks.

No, you, as the petitioner, don't need to send your passport copy for the IV package.

Was unfortunate enough to receive a checklist today. But I'm slightly confused as it seems to be a combination of a 'real' checklist and a 'false' one. Has anyone else received one like this?

It asks specifically for us to submit 2013 tax info as we had submitted 2012 info as the most recent year. Looks like we missed the cut off point by a week! Oh well, hopefully we can get this sent off to them quickly and the delay wont be too long.

The confusing part is the checklist also asks for me to submit a copy of my passport, my birth certificate, and police certificate all which I have already sent as part of my IV package. They already have these documents!

So whereas the tax part of the checklist is real and obviously needs action on my part, the civil documents they're asking me to submit falls into the 'false' checklist category we are all familiar with. I'm aware of the difference between the real and false checklists but I've not heard of anyone receiving one that seems to be both at the same time!

Has anyone seen this before? Any advice?

I'd be interested to see what your check list looks like, if you don't mind posting it... of course delete the confidential information when/if you do this :P

so happy went from total dejection in believing that stage iv cancer was not valid enough for expedite and run around at nvc to getting notification expedite approved and no waiting six weeks for case number, whomever out there that is doing the good vibes and realising we all only have limited time on this planet, thank you for paying it forward and the warm wishes, am absolutely in tears and today is my birthday :dancing:

thank you to all on vj with help and advice so far and hang in there all my December filers!!! and to new mates that I have made on here

we will have a beer or cuppa in usa this year!!!

So glad you got your expedite!! And of course Happy Birthday!!!!! :energy:

ok I have a question about the i-864, I am living abroad so i abviously need a co-sponsor and now that I have my case number I started pressuring him and he told me he hasnt filed his taxes for 2012 nor 2013 soooo, I am looking for a new sponsor, I just need to know what amount on their annual income i am looking for, because my brother has a farm with a lot of income, but it also has a lot of expenses and he has a lot of children, so I need to know if it is total income or adjusted income.

thanks all

and on a side note, this community is the best. I got so excited when I got my case number yesterday and only here seems like other people are excited for the same thing to other people that arent going through this dont really understand how it is such a big deal, any one I mention it to, they are like.. oh so she got aproved? so she has her interview or what is so good about getting the case number?? but ya its great to spend hours and hours reading all of your comments and seeing the process everyone is going through and to have such a large vj family that gets excited for the same things as me

The income number depends on what tax form he filled. If he filed a 1040 he uses total income, but if he filed a 1040EZ he'll use adjusted gross income.

I totally agree with you on your second paragraph :D

"If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

"Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."

Hello, can anyone please help me with this part of I-864 form?

________________________________________________________________________

Part 6. Sponser ‘s Income and Employment

Federal income tax return information

13. I have filed a Federal income tax return for each of the three most recent tax years.

I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for

only the most recent tax year.

________________________________________________________________________

I did not work last year as I was a student and I'm only submitting my tax transcripts from 2011 & 2012. I was told by a friend (a law school student) that I do not need to check this box but write "SEE THE ATTACHED ADDENDUM" and explain in it about having no income last year because of school.

My problem is, I have never written an addendum, plus my friend suggested that I should copy the above part of I-864 form in it and explain. Can anyone suggest if I must write an addendum? or if anyone can help me with a sample addendum...I tried to google it, but I didn't find anything that would make sense to my case here...

Any type of suggestions from you guys will be much appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

Hello guys, I'm sending only Tax transcripts from the IRS for the last 3 years...but I noticed Federal income tax return, including W-2s in I-864 Checklist, what should I do? Someone from this forum suggested me before that only Transcripts from IRS would be fine and Saylin suggested in the WIKI also...any ideas?

This is like a sick joke. There's a bunch of people that had packages scanned in on May 5th and they just got Case Completes or their packages were accepted. I just got thru and they told me nothing has been looked at on my end. It'll be 3 weeks on Monday that they've had my revised AOS. Why can't they just pick up the stupid thing and look at it?!?!?!

Sorry... I'm just so upset with this stupid system. I just want piece of mind that everything is ok and there is a CC. Plus the agent was not nice. So I told her, "Yea yea I know, I have to wait up to 30 business days for the package to be reviewed." Didn't need to here that again from them.
