They said we don't have to send everything again because the cover sheet it's the same. They also told us that they received our package yesterday (UPS delivered it on tuesday). And that we could complete the DS-260 since it was available even thought the IV fee payment was gonna be rejected.

Luckily our call was answered by this nice lady who was amazed but the fact that my spouse and I have the exact same date of birth.

We too have the same birthdate. Still, more often than not it passes unnoticed by either of us!

20 years of marriage mellows you a bit.

I doubt you'll get checklisted. So rest easy :)

I'm not sure you've taken the suggestions to read Saylin's wiki... all, or at least most of your questions are clearly answered there, including this question.

I photocopied only the birth and marriage certificates. I'm not sure what the benefit of photocopying the entire package would do as they'll keep it except for your original important documents which they return to you at the interview.

Although I have my own copy of the entire package to take with me to the interview just in case.

If you're including other important originals or statements that you need back, then copy those for sure.

Good luck! :)

Congratulations!!! I hope you get a June date :dancing:

Congratulations!

Would you please create and update your timeline for us?

You may also wish to correct your sidebar information as it seems a little disoriented :D

As the DS260 is about the beneficiary, fill it out from that perspective.. so it's the beneficiary's current address abroad

Thank you:)

When I got a checklist asking for documents that they said were not certified copies, I emailed the NVC and put it to the attention of the DR, which is where the mailed checklists go. My case was completed within 24 hours, instead of the BS 30 business days BS, so that may be worth a try for you to do. I demanded that they pull the files immediately and that I would not sit back and wait because someone did not bother to take the time and see that clearly there was an embossed seal on the documents.

A monkey could do a better job than the buck eejits reviewing the files.

Same advice as to what I advised for Donkey81. Try emailing and put it to the attention of the DR to get them to rectify their mistake and complete the case.

THANKS COLLIE !!! GOOD IDEA... at this point I am very good at writing letters to immigration..

Just sent one off....in the subject line I put ATTENTION DR DEPT **** URGENT***** (case number)

then I explained the 3 DUMB checklist items.

then I pleaded with them to please re-review my file.

My poor husband is standing in line at the Registry getting a certified copy of his birth cert. I hated to send him down there and he is pissed because we already sent the true original.. so monday I will receive the certified copy and I guess I'll just send it to them.. all a waste of time on everyons part.. but I guess we are at their mercy

I would just enter the address without it. And don't worry about your green card not making it due to that, when I did my POE they reconfirmed my address like 100 times so it can be corrected there, or at the interview.

Can petitioner SIGN and SUMBIT the DS-261???

It says this on top of the sign and submit page...

By clicking “Sign and Submit Form” you are electronically signing the form. You are required to electronically sign your form yourself, unless otherwise exempt by regulation, even if the form has been prepared by someone other than yourself. Your electronic signature certifies that you have read and understood the questions on this form and that your answers are true and correct to the best of your knowledge and belief. The submission of a form containing any false or misleading statements may result in the permanent refusal of a visa or the denial of entry into the United States. All declarations made in this form are unsworn declarations made under penalty of perjury (28 U.S.C. 1746).

I heard everywhere I can but I still want to make sure. And there is an option say if this form was prepared by someone else? Do I say yes? I am the petitioner. Do I say yes to that then fill in the more given questions and send the form in???

I'm trying to call NVC but there busy every time.

LoveMyTico sounds like you're getting the full effect of NVC incompetency - I'm sorry about that. Thanks for the advice Collie, I will do that. They really should work out a better system where you can in some way communicate with the person reviewing your file and not the person on the phone who knows jack $hit about your file. Seems to me like this would save us all a load of time. I think i'll spend the rest of the day banging my head between a rock and a hard place...

Quick question: do I have to call the NVC to confirm if they added the DS-261 to the case file or can I assume they added it because the IV Fee has already been invoiced? I'm a little confused about that.

Rest assured, that once you have an IV invoice available to pay, your DS 261 is registered. Again, referring to saylin's wiki explains this:)

Question for everyone who's paid their AOS and IV fees already:

On the CEAC our fees are now showing as paid, but neither the payment receipts button at the bottom or the receipts tab at the top are working. Is it a glitch or do you have to wait a day or two after it shows paid to get a receipt? Can I just print a screencap in the meantime in case there's any discrepancy over whether its paid or not?

Be sure to use IE, and check the tabs at the top where it says invoice and receipt... although at this moment I'm unable to access the site with either IE or Chrome, so maybe there is an issue still related to the Heartbleed virus affecting it.

Just got my case an II #.... the rep told me to wait 20 to 30 business day to try to log in the portal. i didnt know it was taht much :crying:

It doesn't take that long:) They have standard answers, to which people here on VJ know are exaggerated :secret:

Hi all... can anyone give me nvc number .. I called at their number given on their website. But no response. . Please help .. my case was transferred to nvc on 28 April as per uscis website. . I want to confirm whether they received my case or not

Correction: case shipped to nvc on 18 April

603-334-0700

Your case should be there soon but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a bit longer.

Can petitioner SIGN and SUMBIT the DS-261???

[...]

Yes they can, and Saylin's wiki I believe mentions this.

quote:

  • Note: if needed, yes, the petitioner can file the DS-261 on behalf of the beneficiary. This is very common, especially due to the language barrier and/or no/low internet connection

"If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

"Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."

Thank you for responding! No plans yet, job hunting is kinda difficult from across the pond :) Has anyone else who filed from abroad had issues with this? Will they require evidence of employment plans? And if so, what kind? Printed out job ads? Can't really apply for jobs since we have no idea how much longer this process will take. We have a joint sponsor, so that'll cover the financial part.

I am pretty much in the same boat as you, Ellinora! I am living in Mexico with my spouse and we are filing from abroad. We will also have a joint sponsor (my sister) for the financial aspect but I don't have a job lined up or anything. I am waiting until closer to the end of this process to start looking because we have no idea when this will be finished. Let me know what happens with your situation and good luck! :)

Anyone else getting "database" errors on the payment portal today?

My fees are already paid.

I'm able to log-in into the ceac portal and the home screen is fine.

But when I clisk on the payment portal, it gives me an error screen. It looks like the server is down either for maintenance or for security measures.

I hope it does not take that long to fix for the sake of everybody in here!!!!
