ok, my update...

I suggest acting very confused.. then they act confused then they request a supervisor review... LOL

so yes, I call everyday. I can't help it. Yesterday the guy told me that it shows in the system as "In review" but the mail was not reviewed yet.

so just to clarify, my file has had 4 supervisor reviews since May 1st. LOL I only requested the first on on May 1st.. My file has pages of notes It always takes them a long time to read and catch up.

I talked to Lisa today, When I gave her SNJ for my case number, she asked me to repeat it. I said " SNJ for Costa Rica.. she started laughing and said she doesn't get many for Costa Rica because they call the spanish line. I explained I would love to do that but my spanish is horrible. She thought that was really funny. so she took a minute to read the notes. Finally she said someone put in a request to find my package. I was like.. you mean they just haven't reviewed it yet? she says NO, sometimes they put in requests for the mail to be located and brought to the supervisor. Another supervisor review was put in yesterday and they requested the mail that was received on May 8th.

SOOOOOO, she rattled off the 30 day BS. I just find it strange that they keep putting in supervisor review requests. Maybe they are tired of me calling.... HAHAHAHAHAHA I can't figure these people out. Lisa told me sometimes they do this . She has been there a long time she said... Funny cuz other operators told me they are not allowed to go get the mail . and I had another operator tell me that the mail was combined with my file back on May 12th... soooo who do I believe???? I hope it doesn't take them 30 friggin days to find my mail....

I think you win the award for having the most supervisor reviews. I don't think I've ever seen someone with so many!

I still live in the freezing Island......

Ohh, you live in Montreal? Whereabouts? (If you're comfortable telling ;) )

Maybe...or possibly overseas? I'm wondering if that makes a difference as well...I just want to pay my IV invoice and get the packet sent off!! Maybe soon....

Nope, as LoveMyTico said, the invoices are only invoiced together if you have a lawyer/attorney/legal representative attached to the case.

I am confused about the final steps at the NVC. Specifically, is an interview assigned at the same time that an appointment is scheduled? Or is it scheduled afterwards? If so, is this done after the packet is sent to the Embassy or before?

What "appointment" are you referring to?

Okay, I understand. Thank you. I was just curious because the embassy in Manila has online interview scheduling system. I am trying to figure out how I could use that to possibly get a quicker appointment.

I think that's for non immigrant visas, but I could be wrong.

You can ask in the regional forum for the Phillipines and you might get a better answer.

The interview appointment at the embassy.

I'm a little confused by your question then. You're basically asking if something is scheduled when it's scheduled.

Each embassy/consulate sends NVC a schedule of their available slots each month for interviews. NVC then uses that to schedule interviews. When an interview date is scheduled, you'll receive an email (if NVC has your email addresses on file, otherwise snail mail) of the interview letter. Typically, the day after an interview date is scheduled, NVC sends the case to the embassy/consulate. I'm assuming either NVC notifies the embassy/consulate immediately of the interview date through some system when the date is scheduled or when the embassy/consulate receives your package from NVC they'll see your case has been assigned an interview date on a specific day. Either way, you don't have to do anything. NVC does it all.

What I asked was when it was scheduled, at the time of case completion or after, before it was sent to the embassy or after, etc...

Also, thank you for your thorough answer.

Ah, okay. Well, WHEN an interview date is scheduled varies by embassy/consulate, as well as when you get a case complete (there's typically a scheduling week(s) for interviews). Some people get an interview date within a few days from case completes, others a few weeks, then the few unfortunate that have to wait months for an interview date.

But, basically:

-case complete

-interview date scheduled

-case sent to embassy/consulate

-medical done (if not done earlier for those eligible to advance medicals)

-interview

Hope that helps clear it up :)

Anyone sent additional evidence including photos to NVC?

Yes I am, you have to middle load in China so I am. There are stories about that certain interview window you go there to get a rejection. I think they make up their minds before the interview. Every time I hear JVers talk about Joy on the NVC phone it sounds like the lady they describe in China that hands out the rejection slips. So I want the consulate to feel at ease about our files.

Only if you have an attorney!

AoS is invoiced first.

IV fee is invoiced when DS261 is accepted by NVC.

Good luck

Thanks to all who have responded...understand about the attorney double invoice payment but my DS261 has shown complete in the system for over a week now and still no IV invoice. The NVC stated they received my AOS packet on 19 May (delivered on 13 May)....so who knows.... But I know I can't do anything but 'hurry up and wait' until they decide to invoice it!

Cheers all!
