well, mvc received it on May 3rd and when I called on May 7th, they said it was received on may 7th...so I assume 'scanned.'

ok, yea....the clock starts ticking from the day they say it was received.. So you should be hearing something today or tomorrow. I am one day behind you. Who knows how many days of mail they process each day.

I would love to assume they process 2-3 days of mail per day.. but I think that is a dream.

I called to asked about DS-261 because I submitted it twice. Sandy told me that they look at the latest one sent and it should take about 10 days to be reviewed. Now, that means my iv fee might be delayed because I have to wait 10 days from the 20th(that's when I submitted it again. I initial sent my first one on May 16th), but oh well. Waiting is second nature now. I am refusing to let it bother me. I asked about AOS because I sent it and didn't get an auto response and she said they don't do that anymore and I will have to wait 30 business days.

Hey guys im about to Mail The Iv packet just we observing for the 2x2 picture can I write on the back in pen or pencil does it matter ?

As long as your writing doesn't damage the photo you're ok, that's why guidance is for pencil. Writing lightly with ink that won't bleed through the picture is fine too :)

I wrote lightly along the bottom ( on the back) with a fine tip sharpie marker. You can also write on a piece of tape and then stick it on the back of the photos . I also put them in a ziplock bag and clipped them to the packet.

Good morning VJ family,

I read some posts this morning talking about "why can't NVC correct "small" mistakes" in the forms they get" or why can't they just write the correct income if the petitioner makes a mistake or why can't they check a box we left blank, and so on.

One very obvious reality we sometimes fail to take into prospective: NVC processes millions of packets. Most of us think that they should focus on our packets, but THEY CAN'T. If they start correcting things it will take double or may be triple the time it takes right now to turn around and review packets.

I'm not defensing the NVC as they make some stupid mistakes: they lose docs, they don't even follow the instructions on their forms.... but don't expect them to correct our mistakes.

I just wanted to throw that out there, food for though

nobody ask them to correct anything.

but they could review checklists faster.

and stop philosophize cause your case is complete. don't forget where were you few days ago, on the other side, the side of frustrated people, calling NVC plenty times a day.

Believe me I'm not "philosophizing" at all and I am still frustrated if not more with how slow NVC works!!!!!

I know I have a case complete so I'm not worried about NVC making a mistake in reviewing my case, but knowing that my case is just sitting there collecting dust again is beyond frustration. They could just send it to the embassy/consulate and let them deal with it, but NO, NVC has to be in control of everything around here.

Now, what I said was very simple: don't expect NVC to correct mistakes in filling the forms 1- it is a waste of their time 2- not fair to the people in the line waiting 3- and as LoveMyTico said, teh AoS is a signed contract and a legal document that has to be accurate before they can accept it.

I did not single out anybody and I am not "philosophizing", just stating the obvious!

I understand the frustration, going through this is not an easy process.

Good luck

Thank your very much for the replies. I guess I should start gathering my docs.. Damn didn't know had to send it again..

Yeah, sorry, but nowhere in the I-130 instructions or on the USCIS site did it suggest to send an I864 along with it. Perhaps it is the use of AOS as an acronym that confuses people, as those people filing from within the US do file the I-130 along with an AOS (adjustment of status) - a completely different process.

nope, just said "they didn't receive it". ###### unreal.

what do you guys think i should do about the NVC not accepting my marriage certificate? i sent in the official marriage registration that was obtained from india. it's in english, stamped by the local officials, etc. the operator put in a supervisor review after i said i already sent the original marriage certificate.

should i try to get another certificate and this time some letter or something from an official saying this is the only registration i will get?

Dirk, this was my situation too!

If you had your case number on the document, pray they will track it down, as they DID find my police certificate and gave me case complete only 3 working days later. See my signature. My advice would be to sit tight for a few days.

Is EP mandatory for Canadians? Given how long EP seems to be taking right now, would there be any disadvantages of snail mail other than having to send originals?

It's optional, and I went with snail mail. You can compare my timeline/signature to others who went with EP.

I am trying to figure out if I should fill I-864 or I864-EZ. My qualifying income is salary which enough to cover requirements but I also have rental property. Does this mean I don't fullfill the 3rd criteria list as below?

  • all your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows one or more W-2 Forms that you receive

Then don't use assets/rental property information, just income :)

NVC is claiming to be reviewing files from Apr 30, per my call 4 seconds ago. However Vanessa did not once say the words 30 business days, so this call went better than usual :)

can't really rely on their BS... When I first submitted my documents , they were received April 15th. On May 1st they had reviewed my docs and issued that stupid checklist for my husbands birth cert. Someone called and they were told that docs with the date April 1st were being reviewed... They were 2 weeks off. So the NVC just ratteled off a date ... Someone else reported April 30th at the beginining of the week..

It seems to be taking about 2 weeks + 1 or 2 days.

All papers sent to nbc one week ago. Now what should be my next step?

maybe you should re-read some posts.
