It did not prompt her for "Have you been previously employed?"

Instead she is asked "Do you have any other professions?"

Weird, heh?

It is odd, but that's the US Government for ya! It still asks you the same silly yes/no questions though :)

Hello people! Hope everyone is doing well, this forum has been a lot of help, specially Saylin's wiki page. So i would like to thank all to get me so further in the NVC process :)

I have sent in my AOS and IV packages, however sadly when i called NVC the representative told me there are some issues on the AOS thus would be getting a checklist in my e-mail soon. In my situation my wife has never filed any tax returns, she has never been employed nor does she have any financial assets in the US. So for the AOS i did submit an i-864 signed by my wife, however no tax returns were shown as they were not available. This is why we are using a joint sponsor.

Q1) How do we explain/prove the NVC why my wife has never filed tax returns?

My joint sponsor has not yet filed a 2013 tax return, he is self employed and plans to get an extension. I sent in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 tax transcripts to the NVC.

Q2) Would a proof of extension be enough for the NVC or would he have to file the 2013 returns before the extended time just for me?

thanks everyone for all the support!

Your wife will have to write a letter expalining the reasons why she never filed taxes.

Also, you need the extension form for 2013 taxes for your co-sponsor. I did not file my 2013 taxes yet and I used an extension and they were fine with it.

Good luck

Hello VNBC,

You should be ok. I submitted my AOS packet barely a week after I sent my 2013 tax return to the IRS via snail mail, and I had no issues. That's the reason why NVC asks for full tax return packet (W2's and schedules) if you do not submit transcripts.

Good luck!

One more question for you :).

I am in the process of finalizing AOS packet. When you said include all schedules, does that include 1099s (for stock dividends & transactions) & 1099 INT (for bank interest)? I just don't want to overwhelm NVC with too much info if it is not required. Thanks in advance for the help.

Anyone else, who has this info, please feel free to jump in. Would really appreciate. :)

When i called yesterday i was told that AOS was accepted and they will get to the other 2 items soon and it can take up to 30 days but looking at others timelines its taking 2 weeks + 2 or 3 days to review. So im hoping by Friday they have reviewed everything.

Thank you. I follow you then. Hoping CC this week. Expecting june interview

If you're not sending in tax transcripts, you have to send the ENTIRE tax return package. Basically, whatever you sent to the IRS, you have to send to NVC.

It would be better to get tax transcripts from the IRS website.

If not, then you'll have to include a copy of the entire tax return packet he received from the tax preparer.

If you are submitting the actual 1040 form instead of a transcript, then you need to include all worksheets and schedules that you used to calculate the numbers in your tax return form. Basically, the same docs you submitted to the IRS.

Tell me about it!! This is one major reason why I've stopped being so active cause it's the same questions over and over again, which can be answered by simply reading.

My case is in process of termination. What does that mean?! I see that one in here every month about 10 times and it drives me bananas!

Anyway, I'm sitting in the clinic (I'm in a clinical trial for a new migraine medication) and the nurse just asked me what book I was reading (I'm on my tablet), I told her Visa Journey. It's a dramedy :-D

Ah, yes, the error messages. Which are covered in my wiki *sigh*

I wish there was some way to actually manually allow people to join and they have to pass some kind of test based on information from the wiki and official instructions  Oh, and have up to date timelines and signatures  If not, they're not allowed in!

It did not prompt her for "Have you been previously employed?"

Instead she is asked "Do you have any other professions?"

Weird, heh?

Ours asked both! He answered no to "Do you have any other professions?" and yes to "Have you been previously employed?" and had to provide his employment history since 2004. Thank goodness they had an option for "Do not know" for surnames of supervisors!
