Congratulations! So did you get your case number and IIN?

The next step is you will go on the https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and do the ds261 choice of agent first.. It will probably take a few days until it becomes available as they are still putting your case into the system. Then your AOS will be invoiced, send the package, then your IV will be invoiced, and send the package.. wait for any checklists or case complete then interview..

That's a short run of it.. but go to the Wiki on the NVC process under Saylin's signature.. It's very helpful, and it's all in the right order of steps you need to take. Hopefully you have all your paperwork ready to fire off :),

And happy early birthday!!

Thank you!

I got my case number but no IIN. I think I will call back later today to get the IIN number.

Does this allow me to log into the system? The bloke I spoke to seemed to say that all correspondence needed to be done over the phone (which didn't make sense), but I have to admit. Was a bit too excited at getting a case number to remember everything I wanted to ask.

I have looked at other timelines and the remainder of the process (without any hiccups) appears to take about 6 weeks. Is this about right?

A good nights sleep and more vivid dreams of moving stateside will have my mind clearer in the morning (that's an Australian morning).

You will need the invoice identification number to log in the ceac website. Processing time around 6 weeks seems about right, just follow the spreadsheet under Saylin's signature as well. :) Congrats on getting your case number! One step closer :D.

My plan is to call later this week to make sure my AOS is good to go (and to verify that my IV has been scanned in). Even my husband, Captain Patient has started asking me when do I plan to call NVC!!!

I think he's still on an adrenaline high from Arsenal winning the FA Cup on Saturday!

I'm sure your AOS will be good to go :). You sent yours a week before ours! So we will probably check in a few days. Gotta love a brit when it comes to football

Wow! That's awesome!!!!! Congrats! I'm 40something and still have never had my very own car! Lol! Always had hand me down cars but it's nice not having a car payment. Maybe once the house is paid off. But I have had a good one for 6 yrs now. 2003 eclipse. Love my sunroof! Lol!! So NVC goddess wouldn't fit on the plate? Lol! :)

Yeah, my last (and technically first) car was a hand-me-down, 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. Started to have problems lately. Before that though, the 2 years I had it, it was fine. Got me from place to place!

And hehe, that's a little too long :P

Saylin, I'm sorry but for some reason none of this really makes sense to me - even speaking to the operative at the NVC left more questions unanswered than it answered!

I'll just try and make sense of what we need to do by reading other peoples posts rather than asking as I know you have a very thorough wiki on the first page and it probably seems that I am lazy asking for advice...

her reminder is towards everyone. Don't take it personally! Sometimes we have the same people asking the same question over and over, even when we tell them where to refer to for the answer.. and yet still ask! ;)

That's a relief!

I don't post here very often and realise it probably gets frustrating to see the same dumb questions being asked over and over - that being said I'll have another look at Saylins wiki and see how I go!

Thank you! Definitely considering Saylin as a license plate option.

And ohh, sure PM me a pic :)

Hahaha, yes :P I do have an I <3 NYC shirt from a school field trip there years ago. Does that count? ;)

Yup, the $165 fee only started last February (2013). And that's an interesting thought! I wonder...

Thanks!

Not sure I would consider my blue hair "natural" But I definitely miss it! :(

Yeah, I drove to South Dakota yesterday for a high school graduation. About 150 miles there and another 150 miles back. Only went through about half my tank!

And you don't need to use the :ot: if you don't want to :P

It drives awesome! It is quite silent while driving. And when you're at a red light (or whenever else you're stopped), the gas engine turns off, so it's completely quiet! It's a little freaky actually

And hehe, but it'd be nice to meet some other VJ folk! I've only met 4 people so far through here (all of them at the Montreal consulate over the years  )

-------

And thanks to everyone else who congratulated me! :)

Amazing I thought so sounds great to me, wish I had one, maybe in the future :)! No sound would kind of creep me out would want to turn the car on hahahahaaaa but I'm sure you'll get used to it. :D So happy for you. :dancing::dance:  :dancing:

:rofl::rofl: Don't know about an adrenaline rush, I'm still having palpitations after the match!!! Think I may start to support a less stressful sport when I get stateside. Is synchronised swimming big in Tampa? :D

Should get case number this week so things can start moving again. Will call NVC later tonight when the lines are quieter - about 3am UK time! The things we do for love...

I feel like calling NVC and asking why it says N/A for supporting docs on the ceac website.

Just to change it up alil... I'm usually just asking if case is complete yet... I have this feeling that if I ask something different... they will just say 'don't worry about it because your case is complete!!'

Wishful thinking.. right??

I think everyone appreciates people who make the effort to find the answer themselves first, THEN ask if they don't understand or need more clarity. But be assured that there are many here who will try to help whenever you have questions, so ask away.

(even my quote in my signature reflects how I feel about that in life :luv: )

Hope everybody had a good weekend! THIS WEEK i'm positive we'll get tons of updates!!!!!

Question - Should I be getting another certified copy of my birth certificate, get it apostilled or whatever you call it, and then get it translated to spanish again for my interview in Dominican Republic (whenever I get it)? AND should I have my husband's birth certificate, police certificate, and our wedding certificate translated to english again?

Or will NVC send all that to the embassy?

All the docs submitted to NVC WILL BE FORWARDED to the embassy. NVC does not keep docs. They just go through them to make sure they correct and accurate.

Once they accept them and case complete. The entire file is then forwarded to the embassy for the final decision by the CO.

Good luck

We got an earlier interview date but we got it by calling the US embassy in my hubby's country. He called twice. The first time they did not have our documents yet and they told him to call back in a week. So he did and they moved it up. From June 16th to June 5th. I know it's only 11 days but still......... It makes us happy and it is going to make other things easier for us as far as travel plans are concerned. Hope this helped. Good Luck! (F)

Thank you for the info. I hope I can get an earlier appointment since there are a lot of applicants here in the Philippines. Thank you very much! :)
