NVC Filers - May 2014

Okay I might have confused this cuz I am confused. Here it is.

The Petitioner needs a co-sponsor so they are asking a sister in law (Co-sponsor). NVC checklist them to also send in a I-864A for her husband (he is a LPR co-sponsor petitioned him in 2012) so LPR (husband) will be filling out the I-864A.

His income is not being considered the co-sponsor makes enough on her own to qualify.

So my questions are:

1. Since the co-sponsor has already sent in all the tax transcripts does the husband also have to do the same?

2. Does he have to send in paystubs and employment letter? His income is not being considered.

Thank you again

But his income IS being considered. The form is an agreement to contribute their income to sponsor the intending immigrant along with the main joint sponsor. It's a binding contract. So, yes, evidence of his current income should be provided. And I'd suggest sending the tax transcripts again, along with his W2s to show his portion of the income.

Oh, my! This is crazy, Saylin! And not even accurate: if you're anywhere in the visa "system", wouldn't you be at ELIS?

Wow.

So, to sum up the new CEAC display...

-It does not tell us when/if Case is Complete.

-It does not tell us when/if AOS or IV have been accepted/ approved.

-It does not tell us anything about checklists

-It tells us if NVC received our DS261, DS260...

-Some day it may tell us that NVC received the AOS and IV docs.

-Some time after Case Complete AND interview scheduled the location of file processing changes from the NVC to the embassy/ consulate. So, when we see the embassy there we know case's conplete/ interview was scheduled (but here at VJ we'll probably know that way before that)

So, I guess the best use of the information there is to see if what we submit has been received.

It's accurate, yes. The ELIS system was only recently introduced (last year). Even before this re-design of the CEAC site, it just said "on post" (or something to that affect). It never updated after that.

I think it must be an automated computer check that verifies the income figure listed on the I-864 against the IRS database. A W-2 may only be a few cents different before the feds round it for tax purposes, but it's a simple yes/no result for the match, so any wrong amount irrespective of how trivial will get a rejection kicked back :( The I-864 asks specifically for tax return data, so stick with what's on your transcript and you'll be ok

One more question for you! :D

So if I just send my paper tax return and W2 to NVC instead of a transcript, how would NVC verify my return with IRS if IRS hasn't had chance to file my return yet?

Also, :ot: but, I got my first, very own car yesterday and thought I'd share the great news with you awesome folks :) It's a brand new, 2014 Prius. Only had 1 mile on it! I've wanted this car for years and years and finally got one! Although, I definitely wasn't expecting to get one, lol. I've been having car issues with the hand-me-down I received 2 years ago and my husband merely suggested I test drive one (since I never had before). Few hours later, ended up driving this off the lot :jest: The 50 mpg is nice though :D
