Merci! Long journey almost done, we started the process in July last year and it looks like an early July interview from what I can guess, so nearly a year in total. The immigration lawyer had told us initially 8 months!

I was told 6 to 7 months by an attorney- they also told me $7,000.00

Normal case without special circumstances --- just glad I found the information provided on this website-- As sure as I am sitting here I know that if the lawyer was doing this FOR ME- he wouldn't care a tenth as much and would end up taking MORE time than what I did it in myself- for a small fraction of the costs.

he wanted ALL $7,ooo up front- in the bank-- no wonder. It only motivated me to do this myself-- NOW I feel I could give classes on it..... and I look forward to being in the position to help someone some day with their case.

Guys my CEAC page looks like that too (with the exception of AOS fee showing Paid) and I haven't sent in any of my documents yet. So it definitely does not mean a case complete as much as you wish it did lol

OMG these people are IDIOTS! Someone tell them to just leave things alone! :diablo::devil:  :diablo::angry:

That sounds like PLENTY of proof of domicile/intent to return to the US. I (the petitioner) am in a similar situation as you and I don't even have a job lined up for when we come back to the states so I am sure all of the evidence you have is sufficient. :)

From what I've read about demonstrating the US domicile / intent to return to the US, the two most important things are job and residence.

Is your job offer still valid? Most job offers are valid for 2-4 weeks so you may want to attach a letter from your employer.

Do you still keep an apartment in the US? If so, you may want to attach a copy of your lease. :)

Thanks for your replies, hopefully it will be sufficient. I've been living in Malaysia for 4 years, I didn't keep an apartment in USA, but I use my parents home address as my permanent address. The job offer didn't really say an expiration date; hopefully it will be enough if I put it together with my other evidence of returning to USA. Our lawyer seemed to think it would be OK for NVC, and then for my wife to bring further evidence to the interview in case it came up; but I wanted to check here on VJ to see if anyone else had gone through the process with a similar situation...

Back in April 2013 we were told 6 months for the USCIS and 4 months for the waiver. We were quoted 5K. we paid $1300 when we filed the I-130 then 2k when we were approved. and we still owe 2K when we get our interview. I did the NVC process. The only thing the lawyer's office did was send in an incorrect AOS. I decided I would do it myself. Now he is working on the waiver so it is ready to file right after the interview. We are supposed to fax the paper that says we are eligible for a waiver so it can be mailed out immediately. I plan on asking for a credit since I did his job.

I think $7000 is a rip off, especially with no special issues.... We have a waiver to file and I think $5K is ridiculous...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!

You are such a dear. Thank you. Okay Now more questions. LOL

Since the wife will be the co-sponsor and now the husband who she sponsored in 2012 will now fill out the I-864A does he also have to include tax returns and employment letters and paystubs or the I-9864a is enough since his income will not be considered?

I swear I am getting more and ore confused and when you don't have the actually I-864 they did well you know. Thank you.

The I-864A form itself isn't enough since his income is being considered since he's sending in the form. That's what the I-864A is all about, contributing income. Any and every sponsor have to include tax information. And since he's using his income to help out, he'll also need to include proof of current employment through pay stubs and/or an employment letter. Same thing goes for the main joint sponsor.

Folks, about the N/A appearing on the updated CEAC site, here's my thoughts: NVC isn't going to go through every single file and list what documents were included or missing (or whatever they're going to do with that box). I'm going to assume that box will only be used for FUTURE cases. So, when things are being reviewed, the officer will likely just tick off boxes of sorts and then it'll show on the website. But, this is just my theory. We'll just have to wait and see what the next few weeks bring. Y'all are the NVC lab rats :P

I called NVC late yesterday and finally the good news: Case Complete! :)

The agent told me that the petitioner (our daughter) will need to redo one more time the I-864 form (we already got a check-list once), because the amount in the I-864 form still does not match those in the 2 tax forms she submitted, however this was not another check-list, rather that she would have to give us the revised form in time for the interview.

Now waiting for confirmation email and appointment date at the Paris US Embassy...

Hi there! Can you please let us know, or me, when they schedule your interview for Paris please? Because that is where my husband will be going for his interview and I'd love to know how long they're taking for their interviews.

Congrats on the Case Complete!! I am still waiting for mine. Hoping it happens this week. :)

good morning,

I have a question...should I be worried that I didn't get any emails from NVC yet? I am doing EP, so I sent my ENROLL email on May13, but I am seeing from some ppl signature that are doing EP and others that they are receiving emails. I didn't get any emails yet, but the ds-261 was ready and completed on Friday the 16th and I am assuming my AOS fee will be available soon as well. I know some people are getting emails staying that when fees are ready to be paid.

thanks!

I need information if someone face similar situation...

Do I need police certificate for live abroad 7 months for study? it was not consecutively stay, but I didn't have option to explain that on DS 260 form because it's from... to... I lived before on my current address, and I returned and still live on same address. From NVC web-site you need it if lived in a different country for more than 12 months? M I correct?

An applicant must obtain a police certificate from the local police authority:

IF you…

AND…

- have been living in your country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

you are 16 years old or older

- lived in a different part of your country of nationality for more than 6 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

- lived in a different country for more than 12 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

Things are moving so fast now...got all the tickets bought now just need to find the perfect Hotel in LA....any suggestions from any member greatly appreciated. :)

I can't imagine how fast the world os spinning now! I don't know of any particular hotel, but I've been using Booking.com when my husband comes visit. The reviews are pretty reliable, and they have hotels everywhere. Recently, we booked an entire apartment using airnb.com. This is also a worldwide thing, where you can rent anywhere from a room in someone's house, to an entire apartment with kitchen, laundry room etc.

What would make the hotel perfect for you? I can ask my husband if he can suggest anything :)
