Haha, same happened to us! For us they accepted my birth certificate after a supervisor review and generated an updated checklist. Was not expecting an approval on that birth certificate, so kind of sad that I spend over 150 dollars to get them a different version with apostilles.. sigh!

I only sent the certified copy issued by the Civil Registry in Costa Rica with the EFFFINGGG stamp they said the original is missing. They accepted the translation of that dang document. Now when I call, they tell me they only have the translation, no birth cert... ( where do they think the translation came from?) I was also told that the birth cert I just sent does NOT need to be translated. If they come back saying it needs to be translated I will lose my mind

I'm so sick of this process. I hope it doesn't take the entire 2 weeks for them to review the one stupid paper I sent. This is ridiculous.

Wouldn't it make sense to have separate depts. for initial packages and for checklist packages? I am sick of calling everyday and dealing with the nasty attitudes and misinformation. I am just as sick of calling as they are having to answer me.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU !!!!

Boy, do I wish this were true, LoveMyTico! And, I wish they had a department for "NVC-Reviewer-misinterpreted-the-rules-and-issued-a-checklist-for-something-that-was-not-necessary-or-obtainable-in-the-first-place".

Or a department for "Petitioner-must-prove-NVC-is-incorrect".

It galls me that I had to response to a checklist that was bogus, and that *I* was the one who had to prove the the NVC reviewer was incorrect. It also galls me that, not only did I response to the bogus checklist proving they were wrong, but my attorney also wrote to the special mailbox for attorneys, and, so far, nothing has happened.

I had hoped that the attorney privilege might have gotten faster action. My Case Complete would have occurred TWO WEEKS AGO, and I'm still in limbo.

And...I wonder if the NVC reviewers who make mistakes are disciplined in some way...I know we would love to mete out some sort of punishment for our travails!!!

Here is my straight fwd question about AOS:

My Wife (USC who has 0 income in 2013 and currently living in India with me) and her father(LPR who is living in US) is a joint sponsor. So we are going to submit my wife/petitioner I864 and Joint sponsor I864...

Could you guys let me know is it correct or not and is there any specific instructions to fill I864 ??? or do we need to fill any other form like I864A ?? as both will be in same house when return to US.

Guide me VJ friends

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf as per USCIS http://www.uscis.gov/i-864

Good luck!

Re: all of this discussion - the Vancouver Police Department (which I had to go to since I live in the city of Vancouver and not "Greater Vancouver" which is served by the RCMP) gave me the full sheet police check too. I hope it will work. If I get a checklist, though, apparently I can pay more money and get the same certificate Austin got by going through www.commissionaires.ca to find a commissionaires office. If they give me any issues with the certificate I have I'll just go get the other kind. Same check, different printout.

Well as I figured out, I do have the right information/document. But as I was slipping my photocopy back into the folder, I realized that there is a second page that I didn't include because it didn't appear to be important. Now I'm not so sure as the NVC rep was asking me if my copy stated anything clearly about searching the Canadian Police Information Center - which it did not, it mentioned the Repository.

Then I noticed this second page has 3 sections titled:

What is a Police Information Check? (short description)

What Systems are searched for PIC's (Here it states what she was asking for on the phone)

Police information Check Disclosures (a list of records/charges/reports that might be mentioned on the document)

Well silly me didn't think this would have any importance to NVC as it looked like an information page for the recipient/me, whoopsie :bonk:

Or at least now I'm believing this is what has caused the questions at NVC's end.... and I'm on hold to confirm/deny this with a rep

NOOOOOO My Call just got 'lost' at 17 minutes in!! No music, just dropped somehow, and now it's busy lol!! I woke up at 4:54 my time to log in and use google voice at the earliest moments while the call center was still 'closed' and now I can't help but shake my head and wonder.

Well, guess I'm up now! Going to make coffee and come back to sit on hold.:D

I've been feeling sorry watching others go through this sort of crud... and now here I am. Thanks for your madness :P

Well, yours is probably the 'right' one! Why doesn't mine say that title, nor does it specifically state RCMP, ugh! Yet when I google RCMP district offices in Calgary, the one I went to is listed there.

I even paid $40 for this and waited several weeks for it to arrive in the mail! How did your process go and where did you get yours? Any other Canadians able to help me figure out if what I got was insufficient somehow? :help::lol:

Thanks, just got off the phone again and Jean suggested that if I mail another copy, and they 'find' mine and accept it in the meantime, it WILL delay the case as they'd have to pull the file and open it to review again if more mail arrives.

So now I'm really torn about whether to send another copy including the second page, or wait for the supervisor review (standard 30 days speech for that).

How long for most people's supervisory review? Am I correct to think it's been just days or has it been weeks? :clock:

Here is my straight fwd question about AOS:

My Wife (USC who has 0 income in 2013 and currently living in India with me) and her father(LPR who is living in US) is a joint sponsor. So we are going to submit my wife/petitioner I864 and Joint sponsor I864...

Could you guys let me know is it correct or not and is there any specific instructions to fill I864 ??? or do we need to fill any other form like I864A ?? as both will be in same house when return to US.

Guide me VJ friends

Hello there,

I got a checklist yesterday because I filled out a separate I-864 for my joint sponsor -- I have a similar living situation to your wife. If you will have the same principal residence in the US as your joint sponsor, use the I-864A for your sponsor. And make sure to include your sponsor in the household size on your I-864 (this applies to parts 5 and 6 on the form.) Good luck!
