Good for you! And this must be one of the worst waits - the last ones will be the worst for me, I think! So close to the finish line! :clock:

I'm obsessively tracking the shipment, too! Sent to Heathrow at lunchtime, scanned in at Heathrow 20 minutes ago! Hopefully at NVC by Thursday! :D

This last wait will probably be the worst (although nothing compares to the USCIS wait - I know, USCIS is probably a curse word here)!

Hey guys, after you've paid the fees and it has been deducted from your account, how long will it take to show as paid?

Yes, I see this has been answered, but I'm hoping it really does only take a couple of days. Some people last week were waiting longer but hopefully since the NVC's IT people were working on the system on Saturday, it will clean up the processing (online, anyway!)

How did can I enroll for my email and benifacry email after the case number asigned ,since there is no link I found to enroll in WIKI.

Can you plz help me?

What info I will get after enroll in Email ?

One more thing about this - there will be another option when you fill in the DS261 to put your emails in the system.

Just don't confuse the "Enroll" process for filing by EP (which only certain countries can do), with providing the NVC your email addresses (which is something everyone can/should do in order to get all communications by email).

They are separate things. I wanted to be sure you and other newcomers understand the difference :)

And I wonder if that's what happened to whoever was talking yesterday about having been "accidentally" enrolled in EP? (Sorry, I don't remember who it was)

Is your timeline updated?

Thank you for the quick update! Unfortunately, I'm probably not the best person to give advice on what to do next because I am not at that step yet. Keep me updated on what happens!

I appreciate your reply! If you plan to have a family member as a joint sponser, make sure to call NVC and ask if they do or do not need to be included in the household size on your I-864! Since you're abroad and not currently living with them.

Yes, my sister (who still lives in the U.S. with my parents, but files her taxes as an independent) will be our joint sponsor and will fill out form I-864. I don't really think she would be included in my household size because she files taxes independently. Correct me if I am wrong. :)

I'm sure you have it right, but my mind is giong in circles trying to understand this checklist... I don't think I've ever seen one like this

Hey guys,

While doing EP, is it ok if we scanned photocopies of all the docs? Or do they have to be all originals?

As long as the photocopies are good quality and in colour, I can't see them being able to tell the difference. If you're attaching a cover letter (as in Saylin's guide), maybe leave out the part about affirming that all scans are of original unaltered documents (since it's not technically true).

I probably wouldn't try it if the photocopies are in black and white.

Okay I have an update on the checklist: I called back to see if I could get any more information, and I believe I spoke with Cindy, who was so helpful; she read the checklist to me.

Here's what happened: I provided and I-864 for myself, an I-864 for my dad (joint sponsor), and an I-864A for my mom (household member). I needed a joint sponsor because I'm living abroad with my husband and I'm not authorized to work in his country, thus I have no income. I provided a statement explaining the situation. I had a note in my cover letter and sticky notes saying "see statement" on my I-864.

Well, the checklist was asking me to correct my I-864 to include my parents as "household members." I did not put them as household members because I'm living abroad with my husband, and therefore not living with my family. On my dad's I-864, I listed everyone in family's household including myself and my husband, the intending immigrant, but not on mine.

Cindy told me to send an email to the NVC explaining that I live abroad and that my parents are not my household members right now. Should I also have my dad fedex the same letter with the bar-coded coversheet from the checklist? Would they review it faster?

Where it gets tricky is that on my parents' most recent tax transcript from 2012 (they filed an extension for 2013), I was listed as a dependent. Does that make a difference?

I appreciate any advice that you can give me.

Hmmm, kind of awkward. Probably if your dad is filing taxes with you as a dependent, that automatically makes you part of his "household" both for the purposes of his household size and for what form to fill in. I wouldn't bother trying to explain it. Just resubmit with the I864a (but keep the other package in case they change their minds (again!) :bonk:

Question for everyone who already filled out the DS-260: what did you normally put in the section where it asks what occupation your spouse intends to work in the U.S.? Did you put a concrete answer, or "not known at this time"? My wife is on the fence and doesn't really know if she wants to be a stay at home mom with our daughter, or continue on in the medical profession that she's certified to work in in Europe. What does everyone suggest?

Did you send him the link on where to download the tax transcripts? You basically have to give these people a step by step guide... Ugh and then they still don't get it and try to play by their own rules. Its so frustrating because they don't understand the urgency we have and its hard not to turn nasty on them.

Sent a scanned copy of my certified marriage copy over to my senator. Plus I emailed the county to ask about the certified copies, they described what I have, and I sent that email to the senator as well.

I bet my senator wants me to get the visa just as much as I do so I stop bothering her!:rofl:

He hasn't filed his taxes for 2013, but when he does I won't be a dependent... I'm not sure if I need to re-do all of the paperwork, because how I had it was:

1. I-864 from me

2. I-864 from my dad

3. I-864A from my mom to supplement my dad's I-864 only, not mine

Do we need to all be household members on all of the forms? Even though I'm living abroad, not with my family? That seems like it would be really confusing for everyone involved

Yes, it is confusing! But it seems like they just kind of "do it how they do it" and we all have to play along.

You're right, of course, if you're not a member of your dad's household anymore, you should have filed exactly the way you did. Which is why I'd keep all that original stuff together. By the time you go for your interview, presumably your dad will have filed 2013 taxes and you'll have to present the new I864 (with you NOT being a household member) at the interview.

But for now, the only information they have is that you are technically a member of your dad's household, so my assessment is that your greatest chance to have this all go ahead according to plan is to refile your AOS as though you were all the same household.

It doesn't make sense, but since when does anything in this process make sense?!

Is your timeline updated?

He hasn't filed his taxes for 2013, but when he does I won't be a dependent... I'm not sure if I need to re-do all of the paperwork, because how I had it was:

1. I-864 from me

2. I-864 from my dad

3. I-864A from my mom to supplement my dad's I-864 only, not mine

Do we need to all be household members on all of the forms? Even though I'm living abroad, not with my family? That seems like it would be really confusing for everyone involved

Just to make sure I'm understanding this clearly, did your Dad put you as a dependant on his tax returns?
