NVC Filers - May 2014

I have a question that I'm sure there's a simple answer to, but I'm a bit unclear. So for the IV documents I understand they do not need to be translated. My husband's passport and our marriage certificate are already in both English in Arabic. However the police certificate and birth certificate will not be. When I send them into the the NVC I don't think anyone will be able to read Arabic...so how will they know I've completed the IV requirements? Do you put a sticky note the ones that are not in English telling them what it is? We are thinking to translate them anyway, to be honest...but if anyone can explain how that works with untranslated documents, please let me know.

From personal experiance and my deep love for the SOB''s at the US Embassy have everything translated by whom ever they have on their list of translators they will accept. They are horrible so don't take a chance even if they say you don't need it. Good luck to you.

By the way do you know how long it takes to get an interview date at the Cairo Embassy? Or will you be going to the one in Alexandria?

I'm so tired of waiting already. I'm waiting for the IV fee to be invoiced. Got the AOS sent and it was delivered to the NVC this morning. I'm organizing police clearances being sent from 2 African countries otherwise just waiting. I haven't seen my husband for 9 months. It gets harder to wait the closer the end of the process gets. At least we don't go through this alone.

Haven't seen my husband in a year this month. I know how you feel, wish they did and felt empathy for us.

Not really - they didn't submit the DS-260 til May 1. The IV packet civil documents are not reviewed (as I understand the process) until the DS-260, so I would guess that the clock doesn't start ticking until both the DS-260 and IV packet are both in the facility.

Thank you so much! I think the review is starting from May 1st, which was when the DS260 was submitted. Could it be? If so, we might be hearing something this week (2 weeks) or the next (3 weeks).

i saw a person that sent i130 in November and this month joined NVC thread, isn't it unfair?

Thank you sweet heart and yes completely unfair, I'm happy for them but still wonder why some get through it quickly and others like us get stuck there. I didn't get one REF or RFE what ever that is. Just makes me wonder.

Please, please, please... Do not underestimated the disruption that can be caused by Administrative Processing!

Last time I applied for a visa I was put on AP after the consular interview for 13 months before it was issued! Prior to that I had F1, F1, B1/B2 and J1 visas over the years with no AP, and I have never overstayed any of them.

I understand the whole AP disruption, and the potential IF. But having my wife quit her job isn't going to put a negative affect on us at all. I'm not going to stop her from going home, and getting a job back in the states there. IF that does happen..

Honestly, I am also included with those unlucky folks in this visa #######. Mine also took 11 months to get approved and it seemed right when my petition got to NVC everything else just took longer. I called yesterday and no case number yet, so hopefully I get one today.

Just did, but honestly my case wouldn't be helpful to a lot of people on here. It's so unique lol and it's the one and only time that it sucks to be unique.
