True. We have saved for the past two years, but we used a joint sponsor. My wife won't probably start applying for jobs until we know when the interview is so we know when we're roughly moving to the states. It's kind of hard in this stage to tell them an estimate of when you'll be able to begin employment.

It's true. I think everyone is this past year with USCIS have been unlucky.. I'm hoping we all have good luck now and we all get on with our lives :).

Yes, it's a difficult situation to be in, not knowing if/when the visa will be approved. We don't want to jump the gun and be separated once again while I am going to look for jobs!

I am hoping that this is something that they can understand. :/

We were required to get one, we sent it in, and have case complete. I wouldn't risk a checklist. It's too easy to obtain one.

I think we will just get one to be on the safe side. My spouse told me they are not hard to get.

You're right! You can't change the past so there is no sense in thinking about it.

I could have applied for a fiance visa and that would have been faster. Well, I thought it would be faster if we got married and applied for a IR1/CR1 visa. :bonk: It's unfortunate, but that's life.

Since I've been not so lucky in this process, I'm hoping I've used up all my bad luck so I'll finish the NVC stage without a single checklist.

How can u think of urself as unlucky with this process? U got approved in 6 months. I got it after 10.5 months and ppl like lovemytico got it in 11 months. So no u r not unlucky. I hope ppl realize their good luck soon :) we had the worst luck with this process I think.

I'm preparing docs for my husband's interview and I need your help!

I, the USC, live and work abroad, so I have no W2s, no 1099s, etc. I did not give my 2013 taxes to NVC when I sent in the AOS packet. I understand that at the interview, my hubby will be required to give the 2013 transcripts from myself and the joint sponsor, along with new AOS forms. However, I filed an extension and have not yet done my taxes. I am wondering what all my hubby needs to bring so we have no problems with my part. I have an IRS proof of extension. Do I also need to bring the form that I originally turned in to get the extension? Do I need to bring information on my 2013 income (even though it's foreign-earned and when I file it will be $0 so it doesn't count anyway?) Do I make a new AOS and put 2013 income as 0 since it won't count when I file taxes eventually or can I just show the extension and not make a new AOS? Or should I bring all of that to be safe and a letter to explain it all? Sorry if this question is repeated. Thanks in advance for clarifying.

I am the petitioner (USC). My husband is Senegalese.

unlucky doesn't even to begin to describe my journey.. It took 11 months for the USCIS to approve us... I watched everyone get approve left and right. That was so hard !! Its almost over though !!! If the USCIS only took 7 months, I would be just about home free by now... We still have a waiver to file that is another 6-8 more months of waiting. Sometimes life bites ya in the a$$.. I'm trying to deal with the long wait ahead and it didn't even happen yet.

Lol I hadn't read ur reply and I replied to AustinCanada almost the same thing. Seriously guys ppl from late 2013 months were lucky and I wouldn't comment on what changed it but there had been a lot of protests and hard work from ppl who filed even before us which might have made a lil bit of difference. All I m saying is that things are and can always be worst. So we all should just be happy with what we get and trust in God. He does come thru :)

My joint-sponsor has applied for an extension for 2013 taxes because she files jointly with her husband and he is self-employed so he always gets an extension.

I have her 2013 tax extension form to send in along with all of the other documents.

These are the documents I will be sending in the AOS package:

· AOS bar-coded cover sheet

· Form I-864 (signed and dated by petitioner)

· 2013 Tax Transcripts for petitioner

· Letter explaining why petitioner was not required to file taxes for 2012 and 2011

· Pay stub from April 2014 detailing year to date pay for petitioner

· Letter of Employment for petitioner

· Form I-864 (signed and dated by joint sponsor)

· Form 4868 Extension to file 2013 Income Tax Return for joint sponsor

· 2012 Tax Transcripts for joint sponsor

· 2011 Tax Transcripts for joint sponsor

· 2010 Tax Transcripts for joint sponsor

· Letter of Employment for joint sponsor

· Copy of W2's for years 2013, 2012, 2011 for joint sponsor

· Photocopy of the birth certificate of joint sponsor (Proof of US citizenship)

Now, I know everyone is saying that will ask for the 2013 tax transcripts for the joint sponsor at the interview. My question is what if she doesn't get her taxes filed by that date? She has told me multiple times that she has no control over when it gets filed because it is up to her husband and his accountant. What can I do in this situation? I am so worried that I will get denied at the interview because of this. Or at the very least that they will put me in AP until they get the required 2013 tax transcript. This is stressing me out and I would really like an honest answer here.

Extra information:

petitioner makes just below poverty line for 2 people and that is why we have a joint sponsor. His annual income is $15,725.

Joint sponsor makes well above poverty line for her household size including me (5 people). Her annual income is $70,620.

I just filed for an extension as well, I'm going to bring a copy of that into the interview.

If they can see that they received mail from you it means it has been scanned into the system.

Usually, it takes 2 to 3 weeks after its scanned for the packet to be reviewed!!!! so, this is very disturbing and I hope they are not backlogged again.

You should've gotten case complete already bu now if everything wasw done correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really - they didn't submit the DS-260 til May 1. The IV packet civil documents are not reviewed (as I understand the process) until the DS-260, so I would guess that the clock doesn't start ticking until both the DS-260 and IV packet are both in the facility.

Yes, she will be quitting her job in the UK when time gets near, and then apply for jobs for the US when we know the interview is scheduled so we would be able to give them exact dates. We're not buying for a while, she just likes looking to pass the time! Something somewhere down the line after we settle everything else!

I just talked to Mel. Nice guy but ZERO personality. Anyway.... I just found out that my file is with a supervisor AGAIN... Mel said it can take up to 10 days for this review. (sigh) I swear if they lost that birth certificate I will lose my mind !! I'm hoping the review only takes a day. They told me the supervisor review takes 30 days the first time, and the supervisor reviewed it the next day

Question:

I was asked by NVC to send a corrected form i-864A to my husband, for him to bring into his interview. Should I also mail him the accompanying tax transcript for the most recent year? Not sure if that is needed for the interview or not. NVC has it but I need to know if he also needs a copy for the interview. Just making sure I send everything he needs in one package. :) Thanks.
