NVC Filers - May 2014

So the NVC just received the AOS and IV packages today. How long should I wait before I call to see if they've been scanned into the system and then later on, accepted?

to be scanned into the system, give 3 or 4 days.

to be accepted, usually a little more than 2 weeks after it is scanned into the system.

I could be wrong now, but i don't think so! cause it's jungle out there!!!

I mean what checklist concerned: blank spaces, police cert, etc. But You're right that'd be a lot of work. I didn't thkink

it should take 2-4 days... Then the clock starts. It takes about 2 weeks for them to review everything. Each package goes to a different department so you might get a false checklist .. Don't freak out.. if it asks for the IV package and you know you already sent it, that means the checklist is false and they just didn't get to it yet. If it asks for specific items like tax transcripts or employment letter, then you can assume its a real checklist... You can always ask here ... GOOD LUCK !!!

haha, thanks! What have been getting checklists for usually these days?? Anything I can possibly preempt if I can tell they'll have a problem with it? I really hope we don't get any and literally quadruple checked all the paperwork and made sure I had N/A or None in the AOS, which seems to be a big reason for checklists from what I've read.

Yeah, that part would be even harder as it's rare that people are so detailed in signatures.

Well the starting rate is $70. When I mailed my marriage certificate for an RFE I paid $70 to mail 3 pieces of paper. Unfortunately I can't send regular mail since the mail here is awful. That's why I hate so much when I get RFE or checklist! Another $70! I swear USCIS and NVC are in cahoots with DHL...

If beneficiary is keeping their job you send proof of employment for them. Otherwise, just petitioner.

You include false checklists in spreadsheet? or only real? It seems that more than half of the people get checklists.

Do you use Fedex? My esposo sent his birth cert a couple Fridays ago and my fedex account was only charged $46 for over night morning delivery. One piece of paper in the envelope. He checked off "Bill the recipient". International always requires a signature so I had them hold it and I went and picked it up.. and of course addressed another envelope and mailed it right out to the NVC. That only cost $8.18 for next day morning delivery. It must be different prices over there. $70 is just nuts !!!

Nothing comes snail mail if you gave them your email addresses. The cover page comes in the email with the checklist.

a checklist could be for insufficient information or something they need that you did not send, blank space left for a required information, ...

And it could be sor a missing form even if you are 1000000000% sure you sent it with the package.

it could be also for a missing form that does not apply to your country but the reviewer does not know.

Basically, they could issue a checklist for anything and everything.

over 2 weeks here and nothing :/

That is so strange... I had mail there from the 15th and it was looked at a week and a half ago. It sucks because if you complain, they will tell you that they have 30 days.

Oh wow. So if doesn't apply do I just call them up and bring it to their attention and then cancel it or something? I'm new to the whole checklist thing, obviously.

It's my understanding that not all people filing from abroad have a job lined up for when they come back to the U.S. with their spouse (beneficiary). That's why we have a joint sponsor, showing that we have someone who can financially support my spouse because right now, I don't have any income. I think there are plenty of other ways to prove that I have MAINTAINED a U.S. domicile, besides trying to show that I have a job opportunity available. Yes, of course it would help to show a job offer, but I don't think that it is required.
