Hello everyone! Newbie here

My name is Mike and I am the US Citizen petitioner. My wife Rosalit is Dominican. We were married last October and had an NOA1 date of November 13.

We were approved May 8 at the Texas Service Center. I'm hopeful to see the NVC receive my case before month end, though I think it will be a while for the Case Number.

I've submitted to be added to the NVC sheet and wanted to pop in and introduce myself to the group.

Hi!! Welcome! I still consider myself a newbie since I've only been around since February (posting at least... I used to be a lurker). You will find a lot of support here from everyone and it's nice to be able to follow timelines so that you can estimate when it is your turn to hear good news.

Hello again . Good morning ! Sorry for bothering you again and again . My mom case has been completed at NVC and they said they are currently waiting for interview scheduling with Rangoon . So can you tell me how long it usually take to get interview appointment ? I am planing to come down and accompany to my mom at interview . Can I do like that? If I can come along with my mom interview , what kind of paper work should I do with you to do in advance ? Thank you very much

Once we receive the case from NVC, we will contact your mother to give her additional instructions on how to schedule a medical examination, as well as a few additional forms to complete. We will also advise her of any missing documents that will be necessary to process her case. Once we have received all the required documents and medical exam results from the clinic, we will schedule your mother for an interview. If all the documentation is complete, it usually takes a couple weeks from the time we give the instructions to the interview date, but may take longer if there are any missing forms or issues with the medical exam. It is not necessary for you to accompany your mother to the interview. Generally we do not allow any individuals except for visa applicants into the waiting room. Don't worry, our consular officers speak Burmese, and we have Burmese staff available to translate if your mother has trouble understanding. The interview lasts only a few minutes, and if approved, the visa will be ready the next business day in the afternoon. Thanks, Consular Section

Just an update, our AOS packet was received on May 6th and Lee, gave us the 30 business days response for an update.

What did you guys experience? How long did you hear something about your AOS packet once it's received by NVC?

Hi all, after our I864 sent to NVC, we found it having some mistakes by stupid lawyer, do we need to resend an updated one now or wait for the checklist from NVC?

What did you guys experience? How long did you hear something about your AOS packet once it's received by NVC?

Here the thing is my sponsor has 0 income and her father (in the same house) sponsoring me. sponsor filled I864 and her father is filling I864A as a household member.

We are abroad as well and have gone through everything without a lawyer.

I do wish there was a section on VJ about filing from abroad (non-DCF) as I've had lots of questions that were hard to find answers within the mix of everything else. I've occasionally PMed old members to ask questions, but of course they never respond as they're long gone. When I get through the process I plan to write a long post about filing from abroad in hopes that it will help someone else!!

We are also both abroad and going through this process without a lawyer. After reading some people's posts here about horror stories with their lawyer, we are somewhat glad we chose not to go with one.

I second your wish about there being a special section for people filing from abroad!

Yes call today. I would wait until 8 PM EDT or so. You never know they may complete it today. I called at around 9 PM EDT last night and was told that it was completed that day.

I called at 11:00 PM EDT on Friday and got connected after a 30 minute hold, but due to my stupid Internet connection, the operator couldn't hear me properly, so I had to drop the call. Now, there were just 30 minutes to go before the close of business hours at NVC, and I decided to try my luck,. I dialled in again, waited for 30 more minutes, and got connected. Got this really cool dude- Alex on the line and he told me that your case was completed today (on May 09).

I just couldn't believe my ears. I thanked him, and asked him if there's any chance I can get a June interview to which he said that they're still scheduling for June, but he can't tell me for sure if our case is going to make it. I told him that's okay

So relieved now. Thanks, guys!

I pray that everyone gets their CC soon!!

I agree with you. I'm not finding much information for people filing from abroad.

The only thread I found was "Proving domicile when not living in the U.S." http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/ However, this thread is kind of for Canadians living in Canada.

I just put my AOS and IV packages together this weekend. My AOS package is pretty thick due to including lots of domicile documents!
