so, I swear I read somewhere that all documents NOT in english must be translated.

So my husband goes for his police certificate after the embassy receives our file. Per NVC a few minutes ago, the police certificate does not need to be translated because Spanish is the official language in Costa Rica. That makes it quicker for us . . and when I sent the new birth certificate, NVC told me I didn't need to get it translated. really?

Consistency would be such a bonus though

It is odd. When was it delivered to NVC?

My AoS was scanned in on 18-Apr and was accepted 07-May.

May be the IV review unit is a little slow.

Hi all,

I had a question about naming the AOS documents if I choose to file them electronically via e-mail. For example, would I name the I-864's something like ABC1111222333_Sponsors_Name_I864.pdf, and ABC1111222333_CoSponsors_Name_I864.pdf? I'm confused as it says to put the full name of the applicant whose document you scanned and there will be 2 I-864's sent in for my case.

Thanks, and hope all is coming along well for everyone else

I'm just wondering the same thing... maybe something like this:

MTL1111222333_My_Name_Petitioner_I864.pdf and

MTL1111222333_My_Name_Joint_Sponsor_I864.pdf

That's sort of what I'm leaning toward. It will make it easier to identify the other supporting documents as well, so they can look at one whole set of documents at a time, if they want, but my name is the one that is supposed to be there as "applicant".

Here is a reply Saylin made to me for a similar question a couple months back:

My question quoted:

So, I'll hope to slap my forehead and say 'duh' after this, but my Question regards creating/naming the PDF files for the I864 and associated tax transcripts and identification documents for the 3 individuals who are sponsoring me (spouse, joint sp, and husband of joint sp -864a):

We'll be doing EP.

As per the US Visa site,

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-scanning-faqs.html

it states to name each file with the case number and applicants name and document. If there are 2 I864's, are they both named the same? Or have other people identified the multiple 864's with the person who filled them out as well.

perhaps nvc #_ lake_house_864.pdf by spouse

and nvc # _lake_house_864.pdf by joint sponsor

And then something similar for each year of tax transcripts x3, paystubs, employment letters and proof of US citizenship associated with each of the 3 people providing an AOS? (aware spouse already provided proof in I-130 and won't need to again).

Saylin, were you referring to putting all 3 years of tax information (by one person) into one file when you said the following:

File Names

With NVC's new website design (early 2014), new instructions have emerged on how to send EP packages. Before, you'd combine all files into one and send that. The instructions have since changed though. Now, you attach each file individually. So, for example, for the AOS package email, you'd have a few files: cover letter, I-864 form, tax information, pay stub(s), and employment letter.Note: You'd still be sending just ONE email for the AOS package and ONE email for the IV package, but you'll have much more than just one attachment for each.Another note: You'll still be combining files for each document. What I mean is, for the I-864 attachment, there will be a few pages as the form itself is a few pages. The same thing will go for tax information (especially if you're sending in 3 years' worth).

And I just can't wrap my head around why the files are all named for the applicant and not the people filing... can you even have identically named files on the computer? ie

nvc#_lake-house-tax transcripts.pdf

nvc#_lake-house-tax transcripts.pdf

nvc#_lake-house-tax transcripts.pdf

I have this mental image of an email to NVC with 3 AOS attachments, 9 tax transcript attachments, 2 US citizenship proof attachments, 3 paystub file attachments, 3 employment letter attachments, oh yes, and the cover letter attachment first! ...21 attachments??

Where am I confused? Or where am I correct?

Saylin's response quoted:

Since you have a joint sponsor, I would suggest doing the following for each PDF file:

MTL2014######_Lake_House_Petitioner_TaxTranscripts.pdf

MTL2014######_Lake_House_JointSponsor_TaxTranscripts.pdf

And when I say 'petitioner', leave it as that (ie don't use the petitioner's name). Same thing for the joint sponsor. This would then show the difference between the two transcript files.

And yup, that's what I meant. So, for the tax transcript PDF file, it will be all the pages of all three years (or the most recent year if you're just sending that). You can probably separate them by year, if you wish (and just mention the year in the file name).

And yes, this new name filing and separation of files is ridiculous. It was much easier IMO when it was just one big file. But whatever, it's NVC

Hope this clarifies things. If not, ask ;)

AOS I-864 question: I'm including my partner's 2013, 2012, and 2011 tax transcripts.

Do I select both 13 and 14? :huh2:

13. I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only the most recent tax year.

14. (Optional) I have attached photocopies or transcripts of my Federal tax returns for my second and third most recent tax years.

Since I'm attaching the 2013 tax transcript, I should select 13, but it states the tax return for only the most recent tax year... Maybe it states like that since it's optional to include 2012 and 2010 tax transcripts? :help:

Check both boxes:)

Thanks for your replies, that's what I figured by looking at both your signatures. I hope it will be soon, I am very anxious. We usually don't call very often, but we tried 3 times (busy line) yesterday and we couldn't get through. We finally talk to an agent an hiur ago, but we will try again later tonight then, I want to know right away if there is a checklist. I find them so inconsistent with their own instructions that I have this bad feeling our case will be delayed again. :-( Edited by MsGoyave

How can you fix mistakes on DS260?, some dates on employment history... who can remember everything

Will I receive check list or how it goes to fix it?

I doubt you will be checklisted if there is no gaps in the dates and if the information makes sense.

To correct it, I guess you'll have to let them know during the interview.

That's just my opinion, let's see what other VJ members think!!!!!

You can't resubmit the form to make edits. If it's something like an incorrect date for employment, they'll have no way to know that it's wrong and can't checklist you for it. I'd suggest bringing correct info to the interview just in case, but don't worry about it :)

My husband received everything by mail on March 18, and than we started, send both addresses, so now we both receive everything.

I received letter by mail, directly from NVC I think around April 10 with the same instruction, that we already have it.

Usually postal mail takes time. It might take weeks before you get anything.

If USCIS had your email, most likely NVC will have teh same email.

When was your case approved by USCIS (NOA2)?

Today i got the news tht we completed the NVC process and they close our case !!!!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

nw just waiting for the e-mail conformation and the interview date

can any one tell me how much time it will take by nvc to send an email conformation ??

Congratulations!!!

Hi I'm new here on Visa Journey. Just saw online that my husband's i130 was just approved through Nebraska Service Center. Looking forward to getting the ball rolling on the next stage of the IR1-CR1 process.

Welcome and may you have a smooth journey through the NVC stage :)

Good morning Saylin!

I'm off to a bad start today. I called the NVC last night to see what was the status of our case and the rep stated that they were waiting on everything to be sent in as our case was enrolled for EP. My lawyer never opted for EP and the package was sent in on Apr 11. They stated the package would now be returned and we would need to scan and send the documents in. I decided to call again this morning and speak with another rep at the NVC who told me the exact same thing. Have you heard of this happening. Our Fed Ex package was received at the NVC and signed by someone G. Peters. I'm panicking right now as I don't know what to do. My lawyer said they would follow up but again, at this point if you have any insight, please share.

Thank you!

:wow: Try not to get discouraged! :luv: I hope that gets sorted out quickly!!

Form 864EZ has a condition: c.the sponsored immigrant is the only person immigrating... etc

and if the answer is no you should prepare form 864, are you sure your husband could send 864EZ because there are 2 immigrants, even if are filling 864EZ separately (if i understand - 2 forms 864EZ, one for you and one for your daughter)

We enter the gross income (adjusted income for 1040EZ) . Other documents, you can see http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864ezinstr.pdf , part 5

Good catch!!
