I broke down, and called the NVC. 45 minutes on hold. But it was worth it.

CASE COMPLETE!!

She said it was complete on the 6th, but the file didn't show a date. So she would get a supervisor to correct it.

I called yesterday and what he told was- we got mail on April 24th and May 6th -- that was my AOS and IV package--

I asked what now- said to just wait- 20 - 30 days--

so what your telling me - is that when they acknowledge mail - complete case soon to follow? I have not gotten ANY correspondence from them at all-

This time has been the quickest moving but still the most difficult- like the last mile in a marathon..

man I wish I had my appointment date set-- then I will start feeling close..

congrats to you

frank

Another question:

I did *not* send the original police certificate to NVC. I sent a translation and copy. I probably should have sent the original too though. Anyway I haven't gotten a checklist for it, and every time I have called NVC they never mention it. When calling NVC and asking if they need anything, they should tell you right?

Once they review the IV package, they will find out about the missing document.

I'm pretty sure they will issue a checklist for a missing police certificate.

They will not tell you anything until they review the package.

Good luck

Just found this thread today. Reading through is both comforting and discouraging! Congrats to everyone who has interview dates! I am the petitioner and am living in the US since last year, hubs lives in Romania still. Took 6 months to get our NOA2, 7 weeks to get to NVC, and it's been another 8 weeks since that point. I've gotten 3 checklists so far (ha! Not counting all the false ones!), the first was for not putting N/A on one line of the I-864A, the second for additional tax returns, and now the latest one for hubby's original birth certificate even though I send a certified copy. :( Every time I make a reasonable time in my mind that my husband and I will be reunited we get delayed once again. So I guess I should just focus on hopefully being together by the end of the year in order to not be disappointed! :D Okay enough of my whining I know a lot of people have waited more than me.

I do have a question:

I will be mailing the birth certificate as soon as I get it, hopefully Monday! How long will it take for NVC to get that in my case and take the checklist off? Could it really take 30 days? Makes me feel sick just thinking about it. Any way to speed it up?

Crossing my fingers I don't get anymore checklists. At this point I feel like I have to be prepared for anything.

I got three checklists, too!! All for BS reasons. Normally it takes about two weeks for them to review checklist responses. My first checklist response took two weeks, the second too just two days, and now I'm waiting on the third.

--

Tico- I got that same email. Twice.

Eugh i feel for you both. I had no idea they can checklist you more than once! We got one.. but have not even considered getting more- wow, why don't they just send one so we can deal with all the issues at once??

If I got a checklist for the birth certificate though, wouldn't I get one for the police certificate at the same time?

That sounds correct! you should've gotten a checklist for both.

Did you reply to the birth certificate checklist yet?

If no, you can always add the police certificate to the response and add a coversheet explaining why you have the police certificate in there.

If you already answered it, then just hope and pray they will accept your package but don't forget to have the police certificate with your spouse during the interview. They may ask for it there if they notice it is missing

I just had my husband mail his original birth certificate today and it cost almost $100. I am kicking myself for not having him send the police cert too.
