New Delhi, India Embassy website says that : "The immigrant visa appointment schedule is posted for the current month by approximately the 15th of the previous month. "

Right now only available schedule of interviews on website is for May, 2014.

Thus i assume, that they may be scheduling interviews till 14th ;).... i got a cc on 2nd, its 8th today, fingers crossed, still have 5 working days to get an interview date before they are done with June.

I just called NVC just before they closed and talked to agent Gus.

Well, I don't have a case number yet - not a big surprise!

What's surprising was that I found agent Gus kind of defensive! I thought he was the nicest guy at NVC!? :wow:

Here was our conversation:

Gus: "We've received your case on April 30 so it's good news! Well, we don't have a case number for you, yet. It takes 30 days to assign a case number. Please call us back on May 30 if you haven't received an email from us."

Austin: "So it takes 30 days to get a case number? (Yeah, like I didn't know! LOL) Well, I check visajourney.com..."

Gus: "Oh...?"

Austin: "And I noticed some people got their case numbers right away. Why is it so inconsistent?"

Gus: "Well, it's a big bureaucracy..."

Austin: "If some people got their case numbers so quickly, there is a chance I'll get a case number fast, right?"

Gus: "Well, it's certainly possible..."

Austin: "Okay, I'll wait for an email. If I don't receive any email by May 30; then, I'll call you back."

Gus: "Okay..."

Ummmmm.... Maybe I asked him a question he wasn't expecting? Maybe he was getting ready to go home since it was past midnight?

During the I-130 stage, USCIS doesn't approve anything, per se. They just make sure the petitioner is eligible to petition and that neither of you are terrorists or anything.

For NVC, they don't approve anything either. They just collect paperwork and fees. This is the stage where the beneficiary actually applies for the visa.

It's at the interview where the CO goes over everything and decides to issue the visa or not. And even if it is approved, it's still ultimately up to the border officer at POE to let you in. They can always still deny you if they wish. It's extremely rare; I've only ever seen one case here on VJ in the nearly 4 years I've been here.

Great, thx a lot for the detail explanation, wow such a complicated and soo long process ... I guess all left to do now is just hope for the best.. Best of luck everyone!!

Guys we were case complete as of April 29th.

Are we pushed to a July interview ?

Is the NVC not going to schedule any mid-month on May 15th --- for June ?

Please advise.

Thanks

I think this is great advice!

There is no point in calling NVC if you just got NOA2. It takes at least two weeks for them to receive your case. :clock:

For the case number, some people have received case numbers when NVC received their cases. I think they applied for a K-3 visa and happened to be lucky. :star:

I guess if you didn't apply for a K-3 visa, there is few reason for calling NVC for a case number until at least three weeks have passed. :dead:

Of course, you're free to call NVC if you want to. I'm sure Joy and Arthur want to talk to ya! LOL

Good one Austin...

If I were them, I would program incoming calls from frequent callers to get ahead of the queue to .... Joy or Arthur.
