AOS accepted!!! YEEEESSSS :dancing:

Now just waiting for IV to get approved. I swear if they checklist me for another marriage certificate I'm going to scream.

Going to call on Friday to see if IV has been approved. AOS checklist went very quickly (finally), hoping for similar treatment with IV checklist.

in your timeline you say Second checklist response arrives at NVC MAY 5th.... does that mean received by tracking or was that the day they scanned it in? I know mine was received by the tracking number, I hasn't been scanned yet... I'm on hold now because they told me to call and ask for the supervisor on Wednesday night. Maybe I can persuade him to go look for my package ( wishful thinking)

Here is my advise. Don't get upset and don't keep calling because you wont get a better answer and you'll get even more upset about not having an answer that you like.

I reviewed a lot of timelines and i knew how long it was taking. Since your case was shipped on 1st, give it 2 weeks. on day 15 - call NVC and check if they received it.

The day they receive it + 29/30 days -- call back to ask for a case number.

That's what i did. It didnt help calling every few days to ask for a case number because everyone on here was getting a case number exactly on day 30 after it was received at NVC. Hope this helps. It's a long process. Take it easy and good luck :)

Thank you for the advice!

Yea it took 5 weeks for me to get mine as well. I was just happy it was under the 30 business days. Following the timelines really helped me to know when to expect mine. So as soon as I knew they had received my file, I waited 2-3 weeks before calling again. And then I stalked them lol.

Did it take them 5 weeks to receive your case or to get a case number??

Well, ya know, some border officers are pricks. I got one myself when I first started the process who denied me entry into the US. That was my second denial and last attempt as he told me that if I went to another border and tried with "another story" (???), I could get banned for life. I swear, some of them just like the power they have to control people's lives

At least the Canadian officers are nice :D Or maybe it's just cause I'm Canadian :lol:

I can confirm that. When I used to live in upstate NY, my buddies and I would go to Kingston all the time. Never did we encounter a rude Canadian officer. Coming back was another story; we had our cars searched in more than one occasion by US officers, or told to park and go to the "building on the right" (even after showing our military ID's!). Go figure.

Hi Everyone,

I paid our IV Fee on May 3rd and it shows that the money did come out of our bank account. When can I expect my DS-260 to become available to fill out? Will it show up in my portal where my payments are?

Please disregard question above. I realize now that the IV Invoice needs to be shown as PAID before the DS-260 is available.

I did not include any evidence of my current employment in Australia because several VJ repliers said to put my current job but to put my income of my new job that I will have in the US. So I included my employment contract for that position, but no pay stubs for my current job. I didn't think they cared about my current job because it is now in the USA and my income here does not count.

We have a Joint Sponsor and included his pay stubs, proof of employer and all of his tax information.

Does anyone think we will be check listed for not including my proof of employment for my job here? I detailed all of this in a letter of clarification as well.

Ugh and I JUST sent our packages yesterday... :(

No no.... 5 weeks to issue a Case Number. I should have clarified that. Took them a week after approval to recieve it from California.

The first AOS checklist response took two weeks to be reviewed. The second one took two days. Still waiting on my IV checklist response to be reviewed, which I sent at the same time as my AOS one.

You are lucky. My checklist AOS was delivered April 17th. Still nothing.

I would add a post-it or put it on a separate sheet of paper with an explanation. Better to cover all bases. :)

psst Soloenta, remember the DS260 is an online form:) :secret::luv:

Hi guys! One question! Is it possible that IV fee will be available to be paid before DS261 and AOS fee? This is what my case shows and I haven't seen the DS261 and AOS.

The next step in the Immigrant Visa process is for the applicant to pay the Immigrant Visa Application fee. The principal applicant (or the principal applicants agent) will receive an Immigrant Visa Fee Processing Fee Bill Invoice from the National Visa Center.

Number of IV Fees: 1

Paid: 0 In Process: 0 Not Paid: 1

Not Applicable: 0

Interesting! I've not heard of this, but I'm no expert :pop:

Could someone help me with this please? On the AOS form for "Household Size" I can't seem to type in a "1" for myself on the PDF. Did this happen to anyone else? I DO count myself as part of my household size, correct?

Cangirl beat me to it, but the 'one' is already there... are you using the form from the USCIS website?

After trying 20 times, my Call went Through

I only waited 7 min for SPANISH, of course

ANDRES answered ( Cool, Nice Guy )

I Got my Case #

:D

Congrats!

One more question. I paid the AOS fee today. I printed out the cover sheet with the bar code that should be put on top of the documents. But then I read something on the Wiki that made me think that I should wait until the payment goes through before I print the sheet with the bar code out. I mean, I don't see how the receipt would change at all since it's already been generated. Any feed back regarding that?

Good idea! I will see.

You just misunderstood the sentence, as it meant not to send the package till the site says 'paid', not a reference to printing out the cover sheet:

quote:

  • Note: members have had luck sending the packages as soon as they pay the bills (since the bar-coded cover sheet becomes available after paying). If you're not going to wait for it to appear as PAID in the portal, at least wait until the money has cleared the bank account.

Printing the cover sheet now is fine, it won't change after payment has occurred :)

I didn't bother asking for the supervisor because they said the original is not acceptable. Its missing a stamp.. Anyway, the certified copy is there, they just have to open it.

I started asking questions about their process. Apparently all documents go to the DR dept. but they have different groups that review different things. One group for AOS, one group from IV etc... it doesn't matter if it is the initial package or the checklist package, they all go to the same dept. and of course he gave me the UP TO 30 DAYS to review..blah blah blah

So my package is not scanned in yet... I hope they scan it tomorrow morning... then they have 2 days to review it.. COME ON NVC 30 days are bad.... Friday is GOOD !!!

I'm a little pushy aren't I ??????

Am I allowed to submit the Police Certificate at the interview as it will take a week or two to get it still. Can I submit the IV package without the PCC? What will happen if I leave things out?

If your consulate is Mumbai then yes. You are not required to submit the PCC with the IV docs. As long as everything else checkouts they will just send you a Checklist for it and your case will be completed. Then you can go ahead and get the PCC and wait for your interview to be scheduled.

1/29/14 - NVC assigned case number

2/10/14 - DS-261 was filled out and AOS was paid

2/11/14 - AOS was mailed

3/20/14 - IV fee was invoiced and paid

4/1/14 - received a false checklist for IV documents

4/7/14 - IV Documents reached NVC

4/11/14 - IV Documents were touched by NVC

4/29/14 - Case Complete (Called on April 30)

4/30/14 - Checklist for IV docs (To obtain PCC - This is normal for Mumbai)

5/6/14 - CASE COMPLETE confirmation email received.

5/9/14 - Interview was scheduled for June 17 @ Mumbai Consulate

What should we put on the header ATTN: CMR or ATTN: DR?

Do we need to put the case number on the top right corner of every page(except the cover letter and the bar-coded sheet) for the AOS?
