@ NVC... AOS & IV fee submitted.by lawyer

DS 261 online also filed and submitted by beneficiary ..

am little confused.. We have an attorney involved and looking after all this - when i spoke to the attorney he says that - he has sent out the AOS & IV package 2 weeks ago and NVC have received it, and are working on the process.

whereas yesterday i called NVC and according to them they have not received any package on our case -

i called back to my attorney and he said we have already sent out the documents and they are working on the docs, its just that NVC has not updated the system...

WHAT should we do , WHO to BELIEVE and how should we find out >???

any suggestions PLZ... & thanx....

I wouldn't believe your attorney since you only paid the invoices 3 days ago. How could he possibly have sent anything to the NVC when the invoices weren't paid yet?

Do you know how long we (my Mexican spouse and I) will have to move back to the U.S. once the green card is in hand? I had asked this awhile back in the September filers forum and just wanted to get a second opinion. I was originally told that we will have 6 months to move to the U.S. once we have the green card. Thank you for any help that you can give.

1) it's a visa, not a green card, until it's endorsed at the POE

2) you normally have 6 months from the medical date. There will be an expiration date on the visa.

1) I referred to it as a green card because I wasn't sure if the time frame began at the POE or at a different time.

hey guys -- on the DS-260, what should I do if my answer is too large for the box? specifically, the "STATE/PROVINCE OF BIRTH" box is too small for my answer

I would add a post-it or put it on a separate sheet of paper with an explanation. Better to cover all bases.

Got my case complete email today. I want the interview date now, NVC!!

It takes roughly a month for them to reply.

Yes, I would love to have a definitive answer, although I know that might be difficult to come across. haha The main reason I ask is because that will be my window of time to go and secure a job before we make the move the U.S.

An immigrant visa is usually valid for up to six months from the date of issuance unless your medical examination expires sooner, which may make your visa valid for less than six months.

Yes, my visa expired 6 months from the date of my medical. Which ironically was only about 6 days before my interview. If you think this may be country specific, as in your regional forum.

That's just the time frame that they are told to tell you. Your case will probably arrive in about 7-21 days from the day it was shipped. Don't worry!

Jeff, your medical must still be current when you enter the US. Most medicals are good for 6 months. That's where the 6-month thingie comes from. If the visa says you must enter before six months, and your medical expires BEFORE that six months on the visa, be sure to be in the US prior to the medical expiring.
