NVC Filers - May 2014

Hi VJers!

I have a question regarding the mailing address required in DS-260.

I am the petitioner and the choice of agent. I want to receive any document mailed by NVC and therefore I opted to be the choice of agent in DS-261. Now if I report beneficiary's (my wife) address as the mailing address DS-260, what sort of documents will be mailed to her? Will NVC be mailing all document to her? Will the embassy mail all documents to her?

I am little confused as to what documents are mailed by the individual centers (i.e. NVC, Embassy) and from which form do they pick up the mailing address?

DS260 is about beneficiary hence you need to have her address. There is another column asking for 'where to send green card'. Your address can go there. Also, you will also be getting emails as choice of agent.

am little confused.. We have an attorney involved and looking after all this - when i spoke to the attorney he says that - he has sent out the AOS & IV package 2 weeks ago and NVC have received it, and are working on the process.

whereas yesterday i called NVC and according to them they have not received any package on our case -

i called back to my attorney and he said we have already sent out the documents and they are working on the docs, its just that NVC has not updated the system...

WHAT should we do , WHO to BELIEVE and how should we find out >???

any suggestions PLZ... & thanx....

Going to call on Friday to see if IV has been approved. AOS checklist went very quickly (finally), hoping for similar treatment with IV checklist.

How long did it take for the checklist to be reviewed?

Yes!!! I know the feeling !! People say I'm being used for a green card. One person in my circle calls him my mail order groom! Ugh!! That pi$$e$ me off!!!! If he just wanted a green card he wouldn't have waited 8 1/2 yrs! Don't worry...... He who laughs last, laughs best!

If someone said that about my husband I would walk up to them and tell them one more nasty word and something from your body will be ripped off you! Some people just can't keep their mouth shut and have NO social graces.

And in other news, come on NVC, I want to fill in forms and give you money!

My wife called NVC this morning to find about review of our checklist response. She put my wife on hold and talked to supervisor and told that they are reviewing today emails of April 7th ( Electronic Processing). We sent checklist response on April 30th. I guess we have no choice but to wait.

Ok one more question. After our entry in states can we leave on our green card for a trip somewhere? Or is it not possible to travel for 6 months?

Do you know how long we (my Mexican spouse and I) will have to move back to the U.S. once the green card is in hand? I had asked this awhile back in the September filers forum and just wanted to get a second opinion. I was originally told that we will have 6 months to move to the U.S. once we have the green card. Thank you for any help that you can give.

First of all, you didn't have to fill in the DS261 if you have a lawyer, as they do that.

Secondly, NVC's phone number is 603-344-0700

I'm not aware of any reason why you couldn't travel for 6 months... did you hear something about this somewhere?

The first AOS checklist response took two weeks to be reviewed. The second one took two days. Still waiting on my IV checklist response to be reviewed, which I sent at the same time as my AOS one.

Good question, as I've heard different things also. What I've heard is that you have 6 months from the date of the medical, and I've also heard 6 months from the date the visa was approved... surprising how inconsistent the advice can be on that. I've never researched it on official sites though... just here

Yes, I would love to have a definitive answer, although I know that might be difficult to come across. haha The main reason I ask is because that will be my window of time to go and secure a job before we make the move the U.S.

I don't know I think read something like this some time back. But at that time I didnt have much information about this process so might have read in the wrong forum lol! We have a wedding coming up in Philippines actually in October so if I do get my approval by September i wanted to know if I could travel or not. Hope I can

I thought they made a boo-boo and shipped it to the Montreal Consulate (Canada) since it was taking so long!

I think it's 6 months. I don't know if it's 6 months from your interview date or medical exam date.

Well, it makes little difference to me since I'm planning to move to the US within weeks of getting a Green Card!

Hi everyone, I haven't had a chance to read the last few pages of comments but I just got off the phone with NVC, I didn't get the girls name but wow, she must be having a terrible day! She had such a snarky attitude. I asked if out case has been received and she said "UH, NO, YOU'RE CASE WAS ONLY SENT A WEEK AGO! IT'S CURRENTLY TAKING 5 WEEKS TO RECEIVE A CASE!" I was like uh wow, 5 weeks, and she said "yes, please don't call back until you are over 5 weeks!!"

Um no! I'm on hold again right now, hopefully I get someone nicer.
