We call through viber. It is free and it registers all the calls. Just need to be connected to wifi or have internet. You both have to have the app on your phone.

As far as your question....We met in October. Not online per say because I met him through a friend that grew up with him, but it was through Whatsapp. We communicated through Whatsapp, Viber, Tango, and Facebook. I also use Boss Revolution and Vonage (but it horrible). Official relationship as of 11/01 (6 months today), I bought my plane ticket to go see him 11/14. I went from 12/27-01/08. I sent the petition 02/10. Up to that point in whatsapp I had 500 pages of conversation and 250 in Facebook. Went to see him again with my 6 yr old 04/04-04/14.

I decided to send it as soon as possible because the process is long. I am a single mom too and those trips are not cheap. I can not afford to do 3 or 4 trips for a couple of years to then send a petition off and wait another almost year. From when I sent it to now I have double to proof of a legitimate relationship. I am planning another trip for July if we dont get our NOA2 before.

Go for it. No relationship is guaranteed. They dont look at length of time you have been together, just want to see its a legit relationship (not fraud.) You have seen him within the 2 yrs required before sending it so you are good.

Best of luck!

Marco,

I completely agree with you regarding relationships starting online. I talk about my fiancé quite often to friends and family, and as always the question about how we met comes up. I have no issues telling them I me her via an online dating site. They can think what they want, but I don't really care, if I hadn't decided to look, I would have never found her. And yes, with the LDR, it was quite an experience (and for me still is until September), we had to communicate and it allowed us to learn so much more about our everyday lives. We even created a sort of interesting language between each other where we can now tell what the other is thinking just through facial expressions.

Iliana,

Best of luck to you, it seems you are covering all the bases, and I wish you and your fiancé all the best. I am glad you started this thread as it has added a lot to the discussion regarding online meeting. I for one who chose to take the immigration route with my fiancé are appreciative of this forum and the experiences of others like myself.

Im happy to have open this thread my self, it has definitely clear any doudts as to if i should file now or later, it was nice to see how many ppl are in my shoes!! And same situation, it feels good, comforting, knowing you are not alone and that there is ppl that gets it! That understand your reasons and how you feel... I know I'm on a mission now! And Im ready as I will be!!

yes you can call any number the same it just uses the minutes bought. it does show the number, time and date of the call. When I paid 11 cents a minute it tracked the call duration but now does not seem to.

However after reading the post from Jalvarez:

I went to dominicanmovil.com and it seems AWESOME!!! but I don't know if it has tracking...

https://www.dominicanmovil.com/Activacion.aspx

I think I am going to send him the "telefonito" !! 20 bucks a month unlimited!! That's amazing!! Good Lord the money I could have saved!!! I could have paid off everything and the wedding !! jajajaja

Called Dominican Movil and it seems awesome so I decided to check who the Signal Carrier is.... and it's Tricom. So if the area for your Loved One is not well covered by Tricom... the "Telefonito" they send to the DR won't work... :crying: Que Pena!

~ Jan ??,2013 ~ Service Center ~ Vermont I-129F Packet sent

NOTE: Actual sent date unknown due to lawyer negligence - I delivered ALLForms and PAID Lawyer on Nov 7, 2012 - Lawyer kept saying he sent the packet and USCIS must have lost it. When in reality he failed to send the package and only a new copy to USCIS after I made a legal written demand giving him 10 days to perform or return ALL monies paid to him, due to "non-performance".

(IMO it's better to save your money for visits to or from your Fiancé and just fill it out yourself using the K-1 Guide on VJ and Senior Members... They Rock!!!)

Thanks for your reply, now let me ask you, how did you do it when you had to send you Whatsapp logs? because it is a lot of pages...

I only sent a few pages with the petition. I have the rest for the cita. I will lug it all with me when the time comes. Voy a nececitar una maleta para eso solo. Worse part is from what I have read they dont even look at it. I also changed the font size and made the margins smaller so its more to page.

I also met my fiancé on Instagram! We started talking in July of 2012 and talked nonstop everyday for nine months until he finally came to visit. He stayed for three months, went home to work for three months, and then came back for another three months. At that time we filed for the K-visa because we knew the process was going to take a while. I visited him in Wales two months after we filed, and now we have NOA2 and we're waiting to schedule his medical! The timeframe that you have known each other doesn't matter at all. It only matters that you have actually met within the past two years, which isn't an issue in your case.

Draft a letter title Evolution of Our Relationship.....should be about three pages long.

In this you will provide a summary of how you first met, what you talked about then, how you came to decide to meet in person, describe that meeting, what you talked about after that meeting, when your relationship progressed to talking about a future together, when you decided to pursue the K-1, what you talked about then, what you talked about a future life together in the US, what you talk about now in planning that future. Throughout this letter refer to specific documents or evidences that bear these out.

Most relationships follow a normal progression and your evidence should bear this progression out.

We did a very similar letter. I sent it with the original petition. then for evidence, I made a document using tabs that followed that progression, and enclosed some evidence. EX: first time we talked on the phone. I added a page of my phone bill that shows his number and I highlighted it. The more you point things out to them, making it easier to find, the better, IMHO. :)

Yes, I will also do that as well , thank you for the idea, I'm already highlighing my cell ph bils and things like that...

I met my fiance during vacation July 10, 2013. I filed my petition December 6, 2013. Our interview is May 20, 1014. I have the same worries as you and made sure to document our relationship and send in as much documentation as possible with our initial applicatioin. I sent in airline tickets, copy of passport, text messages, skype phone call records, cell phone bills, emails, pictures of us together when I visited, and pictures of us video chatting by ourselves and with family. By the time we have our interview we will have been together only 10 1/2 months. I have been lucky that I have been able to visit him five times during school vacations within these 10 months and have the same worries as you. As far as I know it is less complicated and less of a chance for any denials if our fiances have never had someone petition on their behalf before. Just file now and send as much evidence as possible. I had the same concerns you due to to the high fraud concerns in the Dominican Republic. I will keep you in my prapers. Btw How do I create my own topic and post??? LOL I forgot how

From the replies I've read they seem to guide to the right direction. From personal experience I can tell you that the fact that you guys met online thru a social media network shouldn't keep you from debating whether or not you can file or if its too soon. I met my hubby through tagged.com and my mistake of not filing sooner for him was the fact that I hired a lawyer that told me I needed to do such and such thing before even petitioning for him I filed for him all on my own and so far everything turned out fine :) hes even here with me already....good luck and keep positive! your true day is when you both are there for the interview trust me! :)
