“If you’re going to talk the talk about being for the middle class and the working person, if we have the minimum wage, it should be reasonably adjusted from time to time,” said Pawlenty.

...

“For all the Republicans who come on and talk about, ‘we’re for the blue-collar worker, we’re for the working person,’ there are some basic things that we should be for. One of them is reasonable increases from time to time in the minimum wage,” he added.

Tim Pawlenty is a dying breed - a Republican with common sense. Minimum wage ought to be set at a reasonable level and indexed to inflation once and for all. Then there's nothing else to discuss on the matter. The low end of the workforce will not continuously fall behind as has been the case for the past 50 years. A minimum wage indexed for inflation will also help all other wages keep up with inflation which they haven't over the last few decades either.

Therefore he will be disowned by the GOP and eaten alive by the hyenas in the Teaparty.

I have no problem with that. Maybe make an exception for part time help under a certain age.

We also need to close the Temp worker/ Sub contractor BS loophole stuff that is going on

I know some drivers for Fedex that were "contract drivers" that some days made less than minimum wage

and give a decent minimum wage to food servers.... a tip should be just that, an extra "thank you" for great service.. restaurants should be required to pay a decent wage regardless of any tips the server receives..
