"Visa Validity shortened due to medial"

My husband had a successful medical exam and interview. He was told his visa was approved 6 days ago and we received is envelope and passport (with visa sticker) today. Reading over the letter stapled to the envelope and the visa sticker in his passport, I noticed an Annotation section that says "Visa Validity shortened due to medical" and the expiration date is September 26, 2014. Is this what all of the temporary visas say because you receive the actual one in the mail after you arrive in the US? I wouldn't think twice about it if it weren't for that annotation.

as to the annotation in the visa stamp, this wording is one of the options, based on date of medical exam vs date of interview vs date of issuance date.

in general terms, the visa validity is about 6 months from date of medical exam, not 6 months from date of interview.

visa is valid till 6 months after the medical, that is why they suggest not to do a medical to early, but close to interview date.

Thank you. That makes sense. He did have to get 2 shots after his medical exam, so I just wanted to clarify. I appreciate the help.

Yes, it says this annotation for everybody. We also have this annotation. Had medical on April 1, so visa expires October 1. It's 6 months from the medical, not the interview date. This is a recent change they did. In the past it was 6 months from the interview date.
