The Supreme Court on Tuesday resurrected Environmental Protection Agency rules targeting air pollution that drifts across state borders, handing a victory to the Obama administration on one of its major environmental efforts.

...

The agency for years, under two administrations, has struggled to carry out a directive under the federal Clean Air Act to protect downwind states from pollution generated in other states, mostly from coal-fired power plants.

...

The Supreme Court justices ruled 6 to 2 that the latest effort could be implemented, with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg writing for the majority that the agency must have leeway to confront the “complex challenge” of interstate pollution.

...

Ginsburg was joined by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and justices Anthony M. Kennedy, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

...

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. recused himself from the case.

It amazes me people would fight against having clean air. Sigh.....

Alas, people don't. This fight is all about big bucks and politicians paying back all those hefty campaign contributions. Of course you always have the same people who will cut off their nose to spite their face. Give it a couple more posts...

Why do you hate the scent of freedom, Janelle?

Because i like the scent of rotting clouds and how dare these people to want clean air and want me to not make rotten clouds over their houses. :ranting:

I'm sure you can find studies on the internets about the many beneficial effects of soot.

I love soot. And I love chopping down the already limited trees in west Texas so the inside of my nose will become black from inhaling the soot from my fireplace. It is awesome.

Having worked directly for the owner of a chemical company for many years, who would do anything to sell something legal or not, I can say the EPA has done a lot of good over the years as has OSHA.

They also generate a lot of unreasonable complex regulations that they themselves don't understand and that cost our economy billions

It's two edged sword.

We need a common sense approach
