Hi everyone! I'm new here on the site, and I read through the topics here on the forum, and I didn't fid any topic for my particular concern, so allow me to open this post.

1. I received notice from my US company that they have received notice for the H1B case they applied for me this April, and they said that it doesn't mean approval and I have to wait for it to be approved. Do any of you know if there is a possibility that it won't get approved? Just looking for the worst case scenario, I guess.

2. I recently got married to my Filipino boyfriend of 10 years, just this April 8. Will the filing of H1B be affected with my change of status? I signed with the company when i was still single.

3. Next is, since I'm married now, I need to apply a new Philippine passport since mine will expire January 2015, and since "maybe" my exit visa will be released this year, will it affect my H1B application that I will have a different name? Or should I not change my name yet when I apply for my new passport so there won't be any problems?

4. Last, if I don't change my name, will I still be able to get my husband and apply for H4 so I can get him to stay with me in the US?

Whew, sorry for too much questions there. I would appreciate any answers from any of my questions here. Thanks!

So you are saying that you did not win out in the lottery, in which case all the rest is irrelevant.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

My employer said that they have received notice that I'm included in the batch of filed H1B but it doesn't mean that I would be approved, thus the question 1.

I don't know why they worded it that way, maybe to not give me false hope? I'm not sure.

This was the email to me. Had to edit it for confidentiality:

"We are pleased to advise today we received the receipt notice on your H1B case filed. This does not yet mean an approval but it does mean your case was selected under the H1B cap this year and we will update you as soon as we have news of an outcome."

So what does that mean? There's a chance it won't be approved? That's what I want to know, or be assured of.

The only time you can be certain you have a Visa is when it is in your Passport, so there is always a chance.

It means now it will depend on your paperwork being correct and not some random computer generated lottery. That means they have finally accepted you application for processing and your H1B is pending. That statement is just so that you know the distinction and they are covering their asses.
