I like it, no really, the header of the study makes you believe that just by having a gun at home you increase your risk of being killed which is complete bogus, the study can be rewritten into saying that having a tv in home or having ford mustang in home increases the risk of violent death, they just summarized some amount of deaths and checked if those people had a gun at home, considering that over 40% of population have guns the likelihood of having gun is pretty high, then more:

"Homicide victims were mostly male, less than 35 years of age, and of racial or ethnic minority status"

"A firearm was used in 68 percent of both homicides and suicides"

"A larger proportion of homicide decedents than suicide decedents and those who died of other causes were drinking alcohol within 4 hours of death and used illicit drugs in the past year"

soooo... if you wanna kill someone and you have a gun at home you gonna use it instead of other tool, which is obvious, also don't do drug deals at your home, you know it is illegal, and you can get shot if someone rob you, which is again obvious

in general guns are dangerous and you have to have respect for them, once you loose that respect you will get an accident, but if you are not a gang member or live in a high crime area, not a drug user or alcohol abuser having a gun at home will have no impact on you, in fact it can save your life one day when one of those gang members decided to rob your house or rape your wife, but of cause it is a free country and you can choose not to have it and just dial 911 and just sit and wait till they come, usually you'll be dead by that time but you exercised your right so good luck with that
