Hi,

I'm at the final hurdle at the NVC. Our AOS has been approved and I've just recieved an RFE. They are requesting a canadian police clearance.

I am required to present a police clearance for any country that I reside in for 12 or more months.. I am a New Zealander but worked in canada for 9 months a few years back after which I spent 3 months traveling before returning home to new zealand..

When filling out the DS260, the form would not let me leave a 3 month gap so I extended the canadian residence to meet up with when I took residence back up in New Zealand. I didn't realise or think about it at the time but this resulted in a 12 month stay in canada and will be the reason that the NVC are now requesting a canadian police clearance.

The process to obtain a canadian police clearance is not an easy or quick process and I want to avoid it if possible.

Does anyone know if I can successfully request a change in my DS260 to avoid this?

thanks inadvance

michael
