USAA car insurance

All I can say is that I've been a happy USAA customer for years now. I really doubt you're going to find a lower rate. Not to mention, if anything ever did happen, USAA always has provided me with top notch customer service and quick payment.

When I lost my car in Hurricane Katrina, USAA had already processed our claim even before my ex-wife came out of the shelter. They sent reps to the area three days after the storm to start the processing. We received payment for the car just two weeks after the storm. That's how fast those guys were.

We had State Farm, then switched to USAA. Saved us a fair amount of $$$. When I checked around USAA was the cheapest. I know State farm was cheaper for House Insurance over USAA. We have heard nothig but good about USAA, but have heard mixed stuff on State FArm. Our aunt who had only one claim with State Farm was denied house coverage!! When it comes to insurance, cheaper isn't always better. I'm sure consumer reports must have a study on the better insurance agencies.

i had usaa for homeowners insurance for 2 years, they jacked up the insurance from about $1300 a year to over $1800. i gave up on them and went with armed forces insurance (afi). they beat usaa homeowner's insurance by more than $650 a year. anyone needing info on them, just ask. they are more exclusive than usaa, one must be active duty/retired/government worker (gs) to apply, whereas usaa allows the offspring of usaa members to apply.

also, for the op - afi is quite competitive with usaa for car insurance. my vehicles are insured with usaa though as i have 23 years with them and i enjoy that refund check in dec. i've got an 02 truck and 96 camaro and with nessa on the policy, the truck rated at 5k a year, the car at 10k, with 250 collision 200 comprehensive, i'm paying about $1300 a year.

Will have to look into AFI. have you ever had to make a claim with them?? Relatives have had to with USAA and it was top notch. Assuming since thery deral with governemt/miliotarty people, it is probably great as well.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

never had to make a claim with them, but the insurance is exactly the same - i took my usaa policy in and they mirrored it for $650 a year less. plus it covered frozen pipes in the policy, which usaa required an extra rider for.

when i called usaa to cancel the homeowner's policy, they asked who i was switching to. i told them afi and the response was "oh yeah them guys. we lose a lot of usaa members to them."

one thing that irked me with usaa was their idea to jack up the insurance rates due to the type of roofing material. i now have a class IV impact resistant roof (highest impact resistant class). all usaa would decrease the premium by for this was something pitiful, like $150 a year. whoopie. afi does not care what type of roof you have........

USAA rocks! Their rates are usually low & the service is outstanding. As for the OP I'm guessing you live somewhere like NJ or CA and if so you are paying high rates because the other people are sucky drivers with lots of accidents.
