Hi, all,

I preparing the 1129F.

It wants proof of meeting in person in the last two years. My fiance and I have been together for 7 years.

Should I include proof from more than two years ago?

I have tons of things (stamps in the passport, board passes, photos, plane tix, etc) , so sending in evidence prior to two years ago isn't a problem.

Just want to know if I should send everything that I have.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Welcome to the forum.

USCIS isn't interested in what occurred greater than 2 years ago. What USCIS is interested in is you having adequate proof that you and your fiancé(e) have met in person within 2 years before filing the I-129F petition. Your evidence should be less than 2 years old. The types of necessary evidence is described in the VJ K-1 Guide.

There have been cases of petition rejection by USCIS over this very definite point.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Don't confuse proof of meeting in person in the previous two years with proof of a relationship. The first must be proved at the petition side of the process, the second gets proved at the interview side, after the petition is approved yet before the visa is approved.

Agreed with A&B and Caryh, only include evidences for the last 2 years prior to submission of your I-129f. You can mention of your 7-year relationship and how you met initially in item 34.a of the I-129f form, and you could be a little more detailed (by attaching a supplement page) as to the instances of your meetings in the past 7 years.

NO, just concentrate on one meeting within the last two years. Save the other evidences for the interview; at this stage you don't get extra credit for more than one meeting.

We sent just enough stuff to get the point across that we have met so I think sending everything is overkill. We sent a few photos of us with the date and location where the picture was taken, copies of passport stamps, and a hotel receipt and our petition was approved.

Thanks so much, everyone! You are so awesome.

I am sitting here knee deep in paperwork trying to make sense of this and you all have helped me, and so quickly!

Sincerely,

~CaliforniaGirl

I understand the feeling overwhelmed at first. Been through a K-1, AOS, and just filed a ROC for my wife. Next step is citizenship and we can say goodbye to USCIS. Except our plans are moving back to her country, so we'll be learning a whole new set of bureaucracy.

Go through the instructions step by step. Make a list of what you have that will meet that requirement, then put it together. Part of making a list, is it goes into a good cover letter to let them know exactly what you're providing and why.
