Hi there,

My fiance and I got an apartment with a one-year lease a while back, but we have continued using my parent's address as our legal address. Our interview is coming up and I'm really nervous that this is going to be a problem. Is it okay that we've been living in our apartment but using my parents address for pretty much everything else?? :huh2:

Sept 2011 - We met in Seoul

Oct 2011 - We began dating

February 2013 - NOA 1

July 2013 - Arrived in the US

September 2013 - Married

October 26th 2013 - Received AOS NOA1

November 15th, 2013 - Biometrics Appointment

March 14th, 2014 - Received notification that we may now schedule an interview

How far do your parents live from you?

Pretty close. It's about a 10 minute drive and we did live with them for 2 months. Will that help?

Well, at least it is near, so they are in the same jurisdiction as you. Had they lived in another state then it would be worse. You address is where you sleep at night, so I am not sure why you think there is such a thing as a "legal address" that is different from your real address.

I would bring this up at the interview, because they need to know where you sleep for many reasons, like what if they need to do home checks on you to approve you? If they come to do home checks and then they realize you gave them the wrong home, do you think it will go well?

Hopefully they can smooth it out, but bring it up at the interview. I am really not sure why you would give anyone a fake address. Good luck.

this is interesting.. because i'm about to apply for AOS today and I also live in 2 difference addresses but because I own a house and an apartment. I use my house address for everything but my wife and I stay at the apartment which is in the same city. both property is in my name tho. will this be a problem?

Use the place you sleep at night for your USCIS correspondence. The apartment.

I think having two different addresses may have been a trigger that caused USCIS to schedule an interview.
