DS 260 Questions...please help!

Hello All,

I have applied for my wife's green card and currently she's filling the DS 260 form. However, she's not sure what to mention for the following 2 questions:-

1.Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?

2.

Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. with you?

If No, then another question comes-

Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. at a later date to join you?

For the 1st question, she has taken some of the required vaccines but documentation is not available to her.

For the 2nd question, I, her spouse / petitioner is already here in US as a US Permanent Resident and so we are not sure what to mention for these 2 questions.

If any of you can share what you chose to wrote as an answer to these questions then it would be greatly helpful for us!

Easy one first. The answer is No, you are not immigrating with her. This question is more for people, say, who are petitioning their parents. In that case, when both husband and wife are immigrating, they would answer Yes.

Regarding vaccinations, basically you will say exactly what you have here, adding an extra page for explanations if necessary. Say "no, but will have by the time of the interview," or "no, will do this at the medical."

As to what you should do about the vaccinations (which you technically didn't ask about) if there is no way for her to get a copy of her vaccination record (I got one by visiting a travel health clinic and having them requisition it) she has three choices. First, she can get titre blood tests to determine which vaccinations she has had and therefore doesn't need; second, she can get those vaccinations she needs (or all of them, if she has neither the record or the titre test results) from a local doctor, who will then provide her with a vaccination record to bring to the medical; or third, she can get all the vaccinations at the medical. The last is obviously the fewest steps, but will also be ridiculously expensive, as those panel physicians don't do anything without charging an arm and a leg for it!

In any case, by the time you go to the interview, you will have the documentation. You can say that on the ds260 and it won't hurt your chances.

For question 1, answer the truth. If your spouse has no records, choose "no" and then write on the explanation box that she does not have them at this moment but she will get or retake them during the medical examination.

Question 2, if you are already in the US, then your wife needs to answer no and no, since you are not immigrating with her.

1. Since she (or her parents) do not have any proof of vaccinations, she will answer No. And then explain that she will take the required vaccinations at the time of the Medicals.

Now having said that on the DS-260, my advise (and also the same advise by many other VJ members) will be to start taking the required vaccines at a local vaccination clinic, family physician etc. and keep the record to be shown at the time of Medical. This way she will not be taking a whole bunch of vaccinations all on the same day (plus pay an inflated charge for the same).

2. The answer is No. As her spouse (that is You) is already here and not immigrating.

How did you go with putting on your DS-260 that your wife did not currently have all of the vaccinations and documentation? Did it delay you at all? Did they ask any further questions?
