Hey I just need peace of mind, I filed for my removals last week. I've been really busy with work and it took me probably longer than it should've to file. My status expires in around 3 weeks, I filed with around a month left over instead of 3. I over nighted the package to Vermont and i'm pretty sure It has everything that's required. I was just wondering (it's been a long time) will I get a letter with a confirmation and reference number or will it be emailed to me? Did I leave it too late? How long am I lookin at sittin with my fingers corssed? I was aware that you were technically supposed to receive the new card close to when your old one expires. My drivers licence expires along with it and I need that for work. Thoughts? Comments?

thats not true.

General processing time for ROC is 6 months, but most of the times people get it within 3 or 4 months if lucky.

If you already filed last week and your green card expires within 3 weeks,we should not worry.

You should get NOA1=letter of extension within 1 week, but sometimes people get it late too.We get second letter=bio appointment within approx. 3 weeks of filing.

Good luck!

1. Letter of Extension, you can use it for work/travel and driver license renewal. Biometrics letter will contain your application number, which you use to track your status online.

2. Vermont is well known for its backlog, it could take up to a year to finish ROC, even the processing time is reported 6 months. All you need to do now is be patient.

Good luck.

Letter of extension what does that entail exactly?

It states they have received your application as well as your payment, and your conditional status will be extended for one year, you can travel and work with it.

who DOESN'T need to file this?! shouldn't a letter of extension be the reply to filing i751? I mean it kinda goes without saying doesn't it??? I might need my Social to actually work. I might need something involving I don't know an actual valid ID Live here for almost 3 years, pay taxes, contribute and then suddenly when I file my ROC it's like, oh yea btw your driver license and employment ( I'm on call ) are majorly effected.

I can't be the only one who has a problem with this.

What?

Your NOA1 will extend your Greencard for a year. There will be no lapse in your SSN or your employment or your ability to travel.

I don't understand what you're saying here. The receipt letter for your I-751 extends your current green card for a year. So what's the problem?

Well someone of us don't have 12 tabs under our display picture, I have little patience left for this and less time. If I was wrong or misread I apologize, the advice here has always been top notch. The current situation here is tight and bleak with work and people who know jack about immigration. I barely got my papers together this time. I won't go into it any further, the sooner I'm done with it the better.

Cheers
