So what is the average time to get the physical green card in your hand?

and before anyone says it, yes we did the searches, and checked the charts but I'd like to be able to average for myself without having to add in the poor people whose cards were lost in the mail or had other issues.

From what I've seen a ballpark figure would be 3 months to 8 months

I know your saying that vague but remember who we are dealing with here, 2 different organizations who don't communicate all that well with each other, your name check from the FBI could be cleared only for someone in your immigration office not to check on it for months.

I received mine within the week after the e-mail notification. It comes in a separate envelope from the welcome letter. Both arrived a day apart - the card first, the welcome letter the folowing day:-).

My wife and I were married in mid January, filed in mid February for AOS, AP and EAD. Had biometrics 3rd week in March. Received AP and EAD the first week of May and had the AOS interview the last week of May. Received her greencard two weeks later in June.

This was all in 2006 and in California. So, I don't know it that helps but it is real.

I was "recommended for approval" yesterday and was told it should arrive n 8 weeks. Blah. I'll let you know if that happens.

This was all in 2006 and in California. So, I don't know it that helps but it is real.

Wow how cool, I hope mine is approved as fast...It seems like it will, we sent in our AOS EAD & AP in November of 2006 then biometrics in December, then the interview is set for last week of January, but no sign of EAD & AP (DID YOU GET THOSE FIRST, EVEN BEFORE THE INTERVIEW?????)

Thanks everyone! and just to clarify because there seems to be some confusion, we had NO interview, and we have been approved. We've gotten both approval emails, the one about the greencard and the one on status.
