We have applied for K1-visa and I want to start gathering paperwork for the next step (interview). Concerning the affidavit of support (I-134) does anybody know

  1. if the montreal consulate accepts only assests?
  2. If we put our house (in Canada) on it, what supporting documents do I need to prove the value? Can I just hire any firm to do the assesment or are there certain firm they only trust?
  3. Do they use the 1:3 rule or the 1:5 rule for assets?
  4. I know only the US citizens assets and income counts. So we own the house together - will only half of the value be counted or all of it?

Thank for your help already - we know we will be ok financially moving to the US as we will sell the Canadian house and the profit of it will go a long way + we own a house in the US which we will move into. But its just that we need to proof it to them too.
