I've tried searching for an appropriate answers to these questions, but nothing emerges that is similar to our case.

My husband is Mexican, I'm American, we have been married for nearly 3 years, most of that together in Taiwan (where we are currently). We just got approval of our I-130 and waiting for a case number to be assigned. He will be in Mexico over the summer visiting family.

Where will he have his interview/physical?

Where should he have police certificates issued?

He was in the US 8 years before coming to Taiwan, and Mexico before that (and on short visits since leaving the US). If he comes back to Taiwan, will they call him back to Mexico for the interview? It's about $2000 RT to fly, and trying to avoid doing that as much as we can.

Thanks for any help.

Did you file direct with the consulate, or through the lockbox in the states? If you did not file your I-130 at the consulate, you would be better off asking these questions in a different forum, we don't get much traffic here.

In theory the interview would be at the country you gave an address for on the I-130.

1. DCF Filers not utilize NVC, so I'm confused why yer posting in the DCF forum.

2. If yer utilizing NVC, then check Q22 of the I-130, left and right side of the form. Review it. What was the answer? NVC thinks thats where the interview will be held. If NVC is confused, you'll know about it when the consular casefile number is issued at NVC, about the same time the AOS fee bill is generated.

3. Once you learn of the NVC Consular Casefile number, study it. Report back here with the first 3 letters of the Consular Casefile Number, and we'll tell you where the interview will be (or where NVC has set it to be).

Wow, that was quick....thanks for your replies, and sorry for being in the wrong place. I filed the I130 through the Chicago Lockbox, and it was routed to the Missouri Service Center and then Nebraska. Our address is listed as Taiwan

On the I-130, I answered N/A because there isn't a formal US Consulate in Taiwan. The next time I call about the Case Number I'll ask then.

I love this man so much. If anyone ever doubted it, they wouldn't after seeing all the forms and steps we've had to go through, and that are still ahead. Thanks for helping us.

you have an approval notice on the I-130? Study the first 3 paragraphs, it describes movement.

Yes, there's a DoS presence in Taiwan, and they handle Consular-ish interviews for immigration.

there are two I-797s. One for receipt notice, one for approval notice.

waiting in Mexico is solely dependent on what NVC thinks , based on the I-130. But that's wrong thinking, all the way round. You've not done NVC Visa Application Processing Yet, and yer thinking about a calendar/location?

If they get it wrong, you will know when the consular casefile is issued.

So, if it's wrong, you can have the casefile rehomed for Taiwan whilst it's at NVC.

However, remember - you two control the pace at NVC, so this concept of waiting in Mexico is specious.

I thought based on reading various fora that our I-130 should take a month, or two tops (since we live outside the US), and it took more than 6, a case number to be assigned should take a week, but it'll be a month tomorrow....so I'm not holding my breath on how long it should take to schedule an interview, regardless of where it is. We're much more comfortable waiting in Taiwan, so hopefully we can steer it that direction. I'm trying to corral all the domicile proof and get a joint sponsor lined up (since I don't have US income) now. So many details, and our case is a bit different. Thanks again.

ok - so on the i-797, the approval notice, study the first 3 paragraphs.

one of them contains info about casefile movement.
