Part 8 - Time outside US when filing under 3 year rule

I am filing N400 under the maraige based 3 year rule. In part 8, they ask about the time spend outside the US in the last 5 years. I still lived in Germany for 2 of those five years. Do I actually include the time before moving to the US 3 years ago? Or do I just scratch out "5 years" and put in a "3"?

I was hoping to see an answer to this question. What we did was say none since my husband hasn't left the states since arriving, even though it was 3 years ago. We did not include any time prior to him arriving in the US. Fingers crossed that this is correct.

If filing based on 3 years of marriage and being a PR, I would just include the last 3 years.. Thats what I did. For that part anyway, since my time before that was not really time away from the US since I have not set foot there yet

You only need to include your absences from the US from the moment you became a resident. If you are filing based on marriage you need only list your absences for the last 3 years.
