Hong Kong Police Cert.

NOA2 will not fly as they need something with the consulate case number on it. NVC letter, which has the case number, will fly.

If the consulate where you will be interviewing is accessible to you, go there as they probably have a form tailored to the HK COC. If not, the instruction sheet from the consulate, specifying the need for the COC will do, or as in our case the NVC letter.

They do send it directly to the embassy. Ours got there, confirmed by email.

And yes you do need the fingerprints. If you are not in HK, go to your local police and have them do it for you.

the instructions on the HK COC sites says we need to present' originals and a photocopy of the NVC letter. Since we opted in for email, will a printed copy of the letter work, or will NVC send an original of that letter by snail mail?

Also, since the clearance gets sent directly to the embassy, does that mean that NVC will still approve our DS260 and AOS without it? we are still waiting for the letter and NVC customer service said that letter will be sent when the DS 260 is reviewed....

Our Embassy said they don't want the police certificate from HK sent to them. I'm confused. Do I write to the HK police to say they need to send it to my fiance or me? Or do I argue with the Embassy? Any advice??

Think we got this figured out!!

Now we are wondering how long the certificate is good for? Does anyone know how long this certificate is valid?

Do you still live ink HK? I think you only need to present an original and a copy of the ID and such if you are a current resident. Otherwise photocopies appear to have worked for us. Did you finally get your letter from NVC? We got ours a week or two after they said they sent our petition to the Embassy.
