When you had your interview, did the consular officer give you a pamphlet about VAWA? There are lot information there and even number that you can contact if your spouse is treating you bad.

Please limit this to one post as I already answered your new post. He will be given a court date after he is released. He will probably be served upon his release with a court order to not return home or to be around you. You need to look on the internet or the phone book or call the non-emergency number for the police and find information for domestic violence. The police were supposed to give this information when they arrested him. If you call the police station they can provide you with a phone number. Speak to a person there and they will be able to give you more advice and specific information regarding your situation. Each area deals with these things differently.

You cannot just talk to the police officer and have him released. To arrest him they had to charge him with a crime which means he has to go to court.

You are in the USA which means that protection of women (and children) is taken very seriously. I would suggest that you do some internet searches for Battered Women's shelters and go to one. Not because you don't have a place to live but that they can start to give you some direction on where you can seek support groups and other services such as counseling. In the USA you can not forgive your husband for physically assaulting you and make the crime go away. Many of the organizations that assist women are Christian. I presume you are Muslim, don't let the fact that the organization is Christian based discourage you from going and asking questions. They may be able to point you to appropriate Islamic organizations as well.. If you find a Christian organization is trying to push Christian faith on you can politely walk away. Most all liberal and moderate and even many conservative Christians will see it as part of their Christian duty to help you irregardless of your beliefs. Good luck to you and may Allah bless you
