I'm not completely clear what information you are after, sorry. Perhaps this will help:

If your husband has no income (or no income that will continue when he moves to the US), then he would answer that he has no income. The income on his past tax returns, in this case, is what he made in the past, not what he is making now.

Your joint sponsor would fill out the I-864. What he needs is listed in the instructions that Tahoma posted.

let me tell you this. joint sponsor must file I-864A. Your husband must file I-864 income or not and state no Income.

I thought the I-864a was for adding the income from household members.

If so then the sponsor and cosponsor would both file I-864, and if adding someone's income in the cosponsors household would require the I-864a.

Either way, the primary sponsor needs to fill out an I-864, and if no income, state such.

Yes,

I-864 (US Citizen)

I-864 Sponsor

I-864a Sponsors Husbands or wife if the sponsor does not make enough on his/her own to qualify

-Just an example but I-864a is only used when the sponsor does not make enough and two incomes are needed to qualify.

hi! my husband is also here in the philippines and just graduated last march so he doesn't have work. but since he is my petitioner he still filed the i-864 and submitted a letter explaining why he doesn't have any income. My mother-in-law is my principal sponsor so she also filed the i-864 and w2 and itr for the current year.

they will also check if the income of your sponsor can support you and your husband when you get there plus the dependents of your sponsor.

hope this helps. :)

Oh, is ITR tax return? The bit about tax returns in my previous post is a bit off, then.

If your husband was not required to file US taxes, e.g., he was under the income threshold, then he would attach a letter explaining why he was exempt from filing instead of attaching the return(s)/transcript(s), as stated above.

No. A joint sponsor fills out their own separate I-864. An I-864A is used by a qualifying household member to combine their income and/or assets with that of the sponsor(primary or joint).
