Hello All!,

I'm new here, and my Name is Nick Jackson. I'm just now starting to undertake this task for my Guatemalan wife. She is Guatemalan and I'm a U.S. citizen living in Guatemala (on tourist Visa) since 7/17/2012. We got married legally in Guatemala on 6/7/2012. We want to move back to Indianapolis, IN, but not sure which is faster CR-1 or K-3.

K-3 is virtually unobtainable, so you'll pursue IR/CR-1.

Just very recently, petitions filed where the USC is living abroad have been put in an "auto-expedite" queue, and the first part, the petition, has been approved in a matter of weeks. This is not an official queue, and you can't ask about it or guarantee that you will get in it, but it might happen. It is something that VJ people have noticed and been tracking.

Otherwise, the first part will take 5 months or so.

There is a thread tracking the auto-expedite in the spousal visa forum. The queue had stopped, but it seems has just recently started again.

Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
