Right, but what do I do once I get my visa nr frkm the nvc? Do I call the embassy in Warsaw a while after I get that nr or what? When do I actually schedule the interview, in what order, and what about the medical?

You could:

1. follow the 'DHL trick' (search here, don't know if it still applies tough) to know when the application reached Warszawa.

2. Back when we did it, you could call the Embassy (at no cost) and they would tell you that you did not have to wait for what's called packet 3 or 4 and at the time, the forms were in the Embassy site, so you could just download and send. By doing so, you could save about a month.

I believe the process at the Emassy has changed some, from what I read in other recent posts, and it usually keeps making changes; but overall, the process is that once the Embassy has your application (see 1 above), they send you information by mail (to your address in Poland) so you know what documents you need to have ready; once you have all that, you return the communication so they can then schedule your appointment; is at that point that instructions for the medical exam are released (again, all that used ot be in their site, but don't know if still is).

Key is how long it takes at NVC, which you can check current times here in the timelines section. After NVC, in general, you have more control over the time, as it will depend on how fast yo can get your documents (police cert, birth cert, if divorced before, court decrees, vacination card, etc), none of those docs need to be translated as I recall.

A few things you can get ready before you go back: I-131 (financial support, which used to be required to be notarized, but I believe not any longer) and some supporting documentation, letter of intent from each of you to the effect that you intent to marry, some additional pics and docs that you are together which are recent, etc.

The embassy in Warszawa is relatively easy compared to other posts and in our case, the interview took 10 minutes and 3 questions; others report similarly (for this Embassy)

The whole point is that they would only schedule an interview once it is clear you have all the documents they will need.

look at this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/302190-dhl-tracking-from-nvc-to-us-embassy/

it will show you how to track your petition after the NVC gives you your case number and you see that it's "in transit." I saw mine today was received at the Dublin Embassy on Friday afternoon. This is speculation, but it's pretty certain, based on the CEAC status updates and DHL's tracking. :)

Thank you so much to both of you, this has a lot! We will call the nvc in about ten days, who knows, maybe they'll have it by then. I'm so glad everything is going smoothly. Looks like I'm getting married this year
