Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this forum. I have found great amount of useful information and I thank you all. I will have several questions along the way, but right now I just need some clarification on the NVC number.

My partner got the NOA2 on April 15 from the Nebraska Office to NVC. While reading some of the topics and the CR-1 Visa Process shortcuts, it says that as soon as I would get the NOA2, start calling the NVC office to get my case number. I have called several times, but the answer is the same: I need to wait for the forms to arrive to the NVC office which might take 4-5 weeks. Is that the correct procedure or should I be calling everyday?

We are a same-sex couple who has been in a 12 year relationship and I have been trying to find similar cases in this forum in case we need to produce any additional information. I assume not, but not sure.

Also, I am Venezuelan and my passport will expire end of December. By the time I will get the consulate interview, it will have less than the 8 month expiration date required. I am already applying for a new one, but it might take 5-6 months to get it back. Has anyone has had a similar situation where the passport is within the 6 to 8 months requirement and yet the US consulate has been lenient and stamped the visa?

Thanks again.

Yes it can take 4 to 8 weeks to get in the system and get case #. Click on the NVC Process Wiki in my signature to read all about what you need to know about the process at NVC.

Long as you have at least 6 months on your passport you can use it. If you need a new one I would get moving on that now.. Cuz by interview you are are looking at 3 months away at the least for interview.
