I think it's a little girl looking out for her father. Why does it have to be about politics?

...besides if he used to work for the campaign, what better way to get on the radar than by handing a resume to the First Lady - what a brilliant idea to me. I would only be disappointed if he put his daughter up to it, because that would just seem like using your kid to pander.

It's no different than corporate America. The old saying it's not what you know but who you know applies in most walks of life. If you can put your resume in the right hands to find the right opportunity what is wrong with that? Not a damn thing in my book. Hell if I ran into Larry Page or knew someone who knew him I'd like to get my resume in his hands :)

Seeing the Mother already works for the executive branch, and the Father worked for the Obama campaign, I'd say they have the "who you know" part covered. The parents knew about it ahead of time.

We are having a real hard time filling open spots in IT lately. A bunch of jobs have ended up going to the only serious applicant.

I've always wanted to try my hand at IT. I hear it's not even like a real job. Where can I send my resume?

i'll give you that, it's just that if she were my daughter - i'd have to make sure she understood exactly how privileged their family actually is. she doesn't need to look out for her father, and that's something to be respected and appreciated.

Prob because they pay $1

There's a taxi driving school in Burlington, you could start there.

No, these are low 100s. The problem has been we're getting two types of applicants.

One - not enough experience or spotty experience. The kind of graduated college 2-3 years ago and isn't ready for this yet. Or has been working for many years but has jumped around a lot and has not developed an in-depth competency in anything.

The second type - the perfect candidate who lets HR know they're looking for a base in the high 100s.

Healthcare.gov , I hear they let anyone build sites there and the sites don't even have to work, so you should be good to go!

Education is what you get from reading the small print. Experience is what you get from not reading it.

Yeah I've experienced the same thing, although I don't get into the HR side of things so most of the candidates resumes I would receive have already been vet'd by HR to meet the salary requirements for the role. Where are you located? Because IT jobs in the low 100s are considered pretty good in the midwest. Even the most intermediate IT jobs pay around 75-90k + maybe bonus.Of course when I compare my job to similar jobs in Cali and NYC they are like 50-100k more.
