Hi,

I got my NOA2 on April 11th stating my petition for IR1/CR1 for my wife was approved. I called the NVC and asked them if they received my case and they said they had no information and to check back with them in 4 to 5 weeks.

When I called the USCIS and entered my case number the automated system told me it was shipped on April 18th. Is it normal for them not to have received it in 6 days? Should I keep calling the NVC to find out if they shipped it or just keep calling them until they give me a case number. Insight would be appreciated.

Yes thats very normal. If it was just mailed out 6 days ago NVC won't probably have record of it.

See there's received at NVC (the mail room has it. But the NVC operator doesn't know) and Received (actually put in their system). And for some its taking from 2 to 8 weeks. So you just have to keep calling. usually by 2 weeks they have it at least in system to say they received it.

Congratulations on the approval. Click on the NVC Process Wiki in my signature read up on NVC while you wait alot to know and follow the NVC filers thread for April.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it about another week and call them again to see if they got it and probably increase my calls thereafter to 2 -3 times a week until i get a case number.

For those people who want to know if/when their case was shipped, all you have to do is call the USCIS. Their automated system let's you put in your receipt number and tells you the date the pacakge was shipped to the Dept of State (NVC).
