Ok for those of you who have not followed our case.. My fiance is from the Dominican Republic but was born in Venezuela. His mother and father are both Dominican. When she was pregnant, his mother travelled to Venezuela under a different(last name diff, first name same) venezuelan (false) identity which is a venezuelan citizen. She then had her mothers boyfriend(also Venezuelan) at the time sign as the father because she was young and was going to leave my fiance there to be raised by her mother and her boyfriend. His father in the dominican republic said bring him back and she did when he was 1 years old. THey proceeded to get him another dominican BC by saying he was born in the DR... another story....

Point of this post... Now we are trying to get his BC in Venezuela corrected. (specifically to show his real parents, who are both dominican)

Can anyone advise on the process needed for this or some recommended lawyers who could help?

(note to admin, please move this if necessary to a country specific thread, I could not figure out how to post it there)

Thanks in advance for any advice/recommendations

Specifically looking for lawyers located in venezuela.. preferably caracas or nearby.

You just go to the forum you want to post in and start a new topic there, like you did here in the K-1 Process forum. The regional forum that includes Venezuela is here, where I am moving this post to > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

~ Moved from K-1 Process to Mexico, Latin and South America regional - topic about getting birth certificate in Venezuela ~

Thanks jaykay

Ilovemyman... He has an appointment at the vz embassy in the DR on monday but the one in the US (i called to ask questions).. Said that his parents would have to go in person to the place that issues the BC in VZ. Which isnt poasible.. I have contacted a few VZ lawyers with the situation and am waiting on replies.. Just curious if anyone has any that tried and true.. Fear of being taken by a crook.. And would prefer one someone has had a good experience with..

Sure can't type anything positive, stepdaughter was born in Venezuela with the correct parents, but their were typos and other errors on her birth certificate.

Everything is done differently down there then here where a doctor signs the birth certificate. Her biological father had to see a notary as they call them and this was done about a year after she was born, plus required two witnesses to verify her birth and indeed he was the father..

Not like a form, more like a letter, then submitted to one of their courts for approval. To get these corrections made, my wife to be had to hire a notary and present the corrected paper to their courts, but with like a two year wait. Got around this by depositing $1,000.00 in the judges Miami bank account. As soon as he checked his account, took care of it the next day.

Its even worse now with all the problems they are having, our Venezuelan consulate in Chicago won't even answer their phones or answer emails.

I will pose another question, do we even need a birth certificate? Many people even in the US do not have one. The reason why we needed my stepdaughters birth certificate was to show a relationship between her and her mother. Guess the USCIS figures if a person comes here, can drag any kid with them. But this is not involving a child. Another major problem we had with my stepdaughter, was getting the courts permission to let her leave their country. But yet another Miami bank deposit took care of that.

Let's just call this an expedient fee. USCIS also has fees like this and so does our DOS, but not quite as steep.
