Hi everyone,

My AOS (and EAD) application was delivered to the USCIS express mail address in Chicago two weeks ago and I never received the electronic text/email or the NOA1 in the mail.

I've had three phone conversations with USCIS on three different days which went something like this...

Call 1: this was relating to something else but when I mentioned it had been 10 days and nothing had arrived the USCIS rep told me this was very odd and I'd need to get in touch with a Tier2 to sort this out. Call volumes were too high at the time so I was told to call back the next day.

Call 2: I was put through to a Tier2, however, I made the mistake of saying I had mailed it to the lockbox (I didn't know there was a difference at the time) and he said the lockbox can take time to clear.

*checked with Navy Federal and discovered the cashier's check hadn't been cashed.

Call 3: a woman informed me that I'd have to wait for 30 days

Has anyone else heard or experienced anything like this? I know the "30 day rule" but realistically everyone is getting responses much quicker.

Panic when it's been 30 days and you still didn't hear anything.

Yes, it's too early to get worried. They have 30 days to sent it to you.

If your packet was properly delivered, be a little more patient. :)

Patience has never been my strong point... :P

I was fine about it until the first phone call and the USCIS rep said that wasn't normal. Grrr

Try to forget the first call, you got an operator who doesn't know what he/she's talking about.

Tier2 are better informed. :)

I sent mine off on Monday 14th, tracked it till it said "delivered" on the 16th and then a week later just after mindnight I received the texts/emails which said the letter would arrive in 7-10 days, struck me as odd that I got them just after midnight but I figure it's automated or something..

Anyways, nice to see another Irishman going through AOS, all of my families from Westmeath

Have they cashed the check?

Follow the money. The government is broke and wants money...

Lately, the timeliness for a lot of notifications associated with many immigration processes has tended to be tardy.

Hang in there.

Good luck.

Did you send it via the lockbox or the express mail address. I'm going to wait the 30 days but I'm convinced they lost it.

Haha I'm a Meath woman myself :D

Hi A&B,

No, I checked with Navy Federal and they hadn't cashed it. I hope you're right and it's just running late. Thanks so much for your response.

I have the same dilemma.. Sent our AOS/EAD package July 14 and they received it July 16 via Express Mail and someone (JC) signed for it... It has been 15 days and no Email/Text notification and the cheque hasn't been cashed too..

Im wondering what went wrong when others who sent theirs around the same time as ours got their NOA1 already.
